A protest against the planned construction of a police department training center in an Atlanta suburb turned violent on its fringes Saturday, with groups smashing windows and damaging a police vehicle and other property, news reports and authorities said.
Senorise Perry has accepted a coaching position at Wofford College in South Carolina. The Chattooga High School alumni and former pro-football player will be running backs coach at Wofford. Perry spent seven seasons in the NFL with the Bears, Dolphins, Bills and Titans from 2014-20. Wofford College is on a 175 acre campus in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It is one of the few four-year institutions in the southeastern United States founded before the American Civil War that still operates on its original campus.
The Rome News Tribune reports that a pedestrian who was struck by a truck and knocked off the Second Avenue Bridge Thursday afternoon died overnight, and police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to Rome police.
The driver involved in a single-vehicle accident on Orchard Hill Road in Summerville remains in serious condition and the accident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
