A 12-year-old is dead after a high-speed chase ended with a Georgia State Patrol trooper using a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver on the suspect’s vehicle.

It’s that time of year again. The Tillotson Menlo Charitable Foundation will now begin accepting grant applications for 2021. The Foundation began in 2005 with a $1,000,000 donation from Tillotson Corporation and over the next five years the Tillotson Corporation contributed an additional $9,000,000 to the Foundation. The amount of grant money is generally determined by the amount of interest accrued each year on the principle amount in the foundation account.
The Horticulture program at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) will hold a Fall Mum Sale outside of Building L located across from GNTC’s Floyd County Campus in Rome Tuesday, Sept. 21, through Thursday, Sept. 23.
On Monday, there were 109 COVID-19 patients at Floyd Medical Center. There were 51 patients on critical respiratory care.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a man wanted on 28 counts of aggravated animal cruelty.
A racoon and a dog in the Gore/Subligna/Haywood Valley area have recently tested positive for animal rabies, and public health officials are reminding Chattooga County residents about the potential dangers of rabies and urging them to make sure their pets are vaccinated against the potentially deadly disease. These are the first confirmed animal rabies case in Chattooga County for 2021 and the first since 2017.
MR. EDDIE LIVELY, age 64, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, formerly of Summervile, passed away August 24, 2021 in Ponte Vedra Beach. He was born in Summerville on June 11, 1957, was self employed in Construction, and was Baptist by Faith. Mr. Lively was preceded in death by a sister, the late Kay Casey.
According to numbers released on Monday, Chattooga County had 460 new COVID cases over the past two weeks.
