Homecoming At North Summerville Baptist

Pastor Sammy Barrett and the congregation of North Summerville Baptist Church would like to invite everyone to homecoming service Sundsy September 12th.  Brother Rodger Whorton will be preaching and Charlie Long will be singing.  Due to Covid there will not be a meal after the service.  Everyone is welcome to come and worship with us.

Chattooga Registrar Office Closed

On Tuesday afternoon, Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods said that the Chattooga County Registrars Office “would be closed for a few days.” Judge Woods told WZQZ News that there was a positive COVID-19 case at the Registrar Office.  Judge Woods said that anyone needing any help can come to the Probate Office or call 706-857-0709.  Judge Woods said that he would make an announcement as to when the Registrars Office would reopen.

Chattooga Young Farmers Meeting This Thursday

The Chattooga Young Farmers will be meeting this Thursday, September 9th at 7pm at the Ag Center. We will have a steak dinner for $12. The guest speaker will be Darren Seidel. He is a livestock production specialist with Purina and the program will be “Are you Cows in the Right Body Condition? Topics and Tools to Help Your Cattle Going into the Fall and Winter Months.”

Trion vs. Dade County Game Canceled

Dade County Schools announced on Tuesday morning that they were canceling this Friday’s football game with the Trion Bulldogs.  In a statement from Dade County Schools, they said that due to contact tracing and COVID issues, the game was being canceled.

Mask Requirements For School Children Increasing In Our Area

The number of school districts in Georgia and Alabama that are requiring face masks is on the rise.  Recently, two area Alabama counties have grappled with the issue.  Cherokee County, Alabama school officials have mandated the wearing of masks by school children and last week, after talking to local health officials and seeing COVID-19 cases increase throughout the community, Fort Payne City School leaders have decided to extend face coverings inside the classroom and buildings until October 1.
