The Chattooga County Board of Education will hold its first meeting of 2023 coming up this Thursday at 6 PM. This week’s meeting will be the first for newly sworn-in board members Lori Brady, Tiffany Lawrence and Bonnie Fletcher. The three were sworn-in by Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods recently. The new board members will be getting up to date on the progress at the new Menlo Elementary School building and other business at Thursday’s meeting. The Chattooga County Board of Education meets at the Chattooga County Education Center, located at 206 Penn Street in Summerville, and the public is invited to attend.

A Northwest Georgia man was arrested after he assaulted the woman who had bailed him out of jail. According to Floyd County Police, thirty-five-year-old Jarad Thomas Michael Sanders of Lindale was arrested after police stopped him following the assault.
