Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that most Chattooga County taxpayers should see a slight decrease in their property tax bills this year.

In April of 2021, Chattooga County FFA and 4-H members began their poultry projects specifically to participate in the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair.
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and Outdoor Chattanooga will continue offering a series of free, historical bike tours through Chickamauga Battlefield. This year’s tours are scheduled for Aug. 21, Sept. 18 and Oct. 16, beginning at 9:30 am, at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is once again reiterating his promise not to bring back mask mandates in the Peach State.
The Trion Police Department will be moving up to the school on the hill and the move will cost the Town of Trion $150,000.
A popular destination in Northeast Georgia will be closed for a period of time. The U.S. Forest Service – Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests announced Anna Ruby Falls Recreation Area will be closed to allow repairs and replacement of the split-rail fence along the extremely popular interpretive trail to the falls.
The City of Summerville embarked on a project last year to bring well water from a site off Highway 48 (the Menlo Highway) to the filter plant located on Raccoon Creek on Filter Plant Road. The city council is looking to make some expensive equipment expenditures for the project at tomorrow’s council meeting.
