Miss Wanda Lee Tapp, age 64 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 at her residence, following and extended illness.

Rescue Squad personnel, EMA personnel, Firefighters, Marine Patrol officers and Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene after a fisherman spotted a vehicle in the lake on County Road 165 in Cedar Bluff on Saturday morning.
Firefighters located the SUV, rescue squad personnel and others conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate anyone. It’s not known at this time exactly how the vehicle got in the lake.

Two children injured in a Friday morning fire in North Rome remain in critical but stable condition.
The heavy rains on Saturday night and Sunday morning were a nightmare for commuters, and downed trees didn’t help the situation. A driver on Starling Mill Road in Lyerly escaped injury in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday night. Emergency responders and law enforcement responded to the scene where a vehicle struck a tree that had fallen across the road. Fortunately, the driver was unhurt.
