Twenty nurse residents at Floyd Medical Center have completed an 8-Week Intensive Nurse Residency program.

A Chattooga County man was arrested by Floyd County Police on Thursday evening of last week following a traffic stop for a brake light violation.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has removed many remaining requirements for social distancing and masked employees at businesses, saying that the state’s efforts to control COVID-19 have been successful. The new executive order took affect May 1, 2021. Kemp says social distancing is now only “strongly encouraged,” not required. Among other changes to Georgia’s rules: Restaurants are no longer required to have any distance between tables or to have any employees wear a mask.

The Chattooga County School system released their weekly COVID report on Friday of last week. According to the report, there were four active COVID cases at Chattooga High School and are the only four active cases district-wide. There were five students quarantined at the high school and four were quarantined at Menlo Elementary School. One was quarantined at Lyerly Elementary School.
The Trion City School system released their weekly COVID report last Friday. According to the information, there were no active COVID cases in the Trion City School System.
The City of Summerville city council will have a called meeting coming up tomorrow evening, Monday, May 3, 2021 at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall.
