Cherokee County, Alabama Sheriff Jeff Shaver has scheduled a meeting this evening at the Cloudland Fire Hall just across the state line. Sheriff Shaver says that he is committed to serving all the residents of Cherokee County and plans meetings across the county, with the first being held at Cloudland.

A Rock Spring man has been charged with DUI for drugs and vehicular homicide in connection with an accident that took the life of a eight-year-old girl.
The Georgia Department of Transportation has been busy this spring repaving portions of I-75 in Northwest Georgia. According to the DOT, on Monday, weather permitting, GDOT maintenance crews will be resurfacing a portion of I-75 in Whitfield County on Monday. The repairs will close two northbound left lanes, and motorists should expect delays. The work is expected to get underway on May 3rd at 9 AM and continue until 4:30 PM. The two northbound lands of I-75 will be closed between mileposts 328.8 and 329.2.

Chattooga County Schools will hold Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year on Monday, May 10th from 8 AM until 3 PM. at the Chattooga Enrollment Center, located at 286 Maple Dr., Summerville, GA 30747. Registration will be for Kindergarten at Lyerly, Menlo and Leroy Massey Elementary Schools. Your child must be five by September 1, 2021 in order to enroll them in Kindergarten. Also, parents or guardians will need to bring a driver’s license or picture ID along with the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, proof of immunization, new eye, ear and dental form and custody papers when applicable.
