The State Fire Commissioner’s office says it appears that the fatal fire in Rock Spring Monday, was accidental in nature. The fire at 491 Bicentennial Trail in Rock Spring originated in the attic of the 41-year-old home. Ninty-one- year old William C. Cason and his wife, Patricia – age 90, were the 35th and 36th fatalities from fire in Georgia, this year.
The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) and Governor Brian Kemp announced the state will expand its vaccine eligibility March 15, 2021, to include adults aged 55 and older, individuals with disabilities and certain medical conditions. Logan Boss with the Northwest Georgia Health District says that vaccines are available by appointment for all eligible persons at the Chattooga County Health Department as long as supplies last. An appointment is required.
On Wednesday evening of this week, the Trion Fire Department was called to the scene of a woods fire on Saddle Club Road. The fire was contained, but residents are being reminded again of the need to get a burn permit before conducting outdoor burning.

The Celebrate Independence festivities and fireworks display were a no-go on July 4th weekend in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the City of Summerville is making plans for the fireworks display to return in 2021.
