On Monday, a Summerville man led law enforcement on a high-speed chase that started in Summerville and ended with the subject crashing his vehicle near the intersection of Highway 156 and Highway 27 in Floyd County.
On June 22, 2020 in the early morning hours, Walker County Sheriff’s Office made several arrest related to drug activity at 862 Nick-A-Jack Rd. in Flintstone, GA. Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force assisted in procuring and executing a search warrant at the residence. Upon executing the search warrant, ten additional people were arrested, making thirteen total drug related arrests associated with the residence.
A police chase this morning started in Summerville and ended in Floyd County. According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, the chase began inside the City of Summerville with Summerville Police. Chattooga County deputies and the Georgia State Patrol also participated in the chase south on Highway 27 towards the Floyd County line. Reports indicate that the suspect’s vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 140 in Floyd County, where one suspect was taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol. Mr. Earl Len “Red” Tidmore, age 57 of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Floyd Medical Center.

The City of Summerville city council has a called meeting this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The city council will be having a reading and adoption of the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year Budget as well as a reading of an agreement with the Summerville Gas Authority. Georgia state health officials reported on Sunday there have been 2,643 people in the state who have died from the coronavirus – one more since Saturday. Chattooga County’s total number of cases increased over the weekend as well.
Georgia’s latest unemployment rate is 9.7 percent for May… that’s down from 12.6 percent in April.
