A media spokesperson for Roper Manufacturing in LaFayette confirmed Monday morning that another employee tested positive for the coronavirus.
Menlo School will hold an eighth grade drive-through promotion parade at 6 PM on Wednesday June 24th. School officials say, “Come out and support our 8th graders as we send them off to CHS. Social distancing guidelines do apply, and you can stand/sit all the way around the school campus, and bring signs to show your support as the students parade around campus.”

A thirty-nine-year-old Bartow County Deputy passed away at his home yesterday from natural causes. The deputy was a K-9 patrol officer and a SWAT member. Matt Aliberti was also a veteran and has family that lives in Chattooga County. The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement on Monday:
Summerville Police were called to a local business earlier this month after a man was seen on video surveillance stealing a wheel and tire off a small truck.
The Town of Trion Business Office, Gas Department, Recreation Department, and Maintenance Department will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of July 4th Holiday.
Garbage normally picked up on Friday will be picked up on Thursday, July 2nd. All other days will be on regular schedule.

Josh Penson walked out of Floyd Medical Center on his own power Friday, after spending nearly two months hospitalized with COVID-19. His wife, Tiffany Penson, credited Dr. Daniel Valancius with saving her husband’s life and said other caregivers also played a key role in his recovery.
“Everything they have done, it works. He’s proof that it works. Dr. Valancius saved his life,” she said.
On Monday, a Summerville man led law enforcement on a high-speed chase that started in Summerville and ended with the subject crashing his vehicle near the intersection of Highway 156 and Highway 27 in Floyd County.
On June 22, 2020 in the early morning hours, Walker County Sheriff’s Office made several arrest related to drug activity at 862 Nick-A-Jack Rd. in Flintstone, GA. Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force assisted in procuring and executing a search warrant at the residence. Upon executing the search warrant, ten additional people were arrested, making thirteen total drug related arrests associated with the residence.
A police chase this morning started in Summerville and ended in Floyd County. According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, the chase began inside the City of Summerville with Summerville Police. Chattooga County deputies and the Georgia State Patrol also participated in the chase south on Highway 27 towards the Floyd County line. Reports indicate that the suspect’s vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 140 in Floyd County, where one suspect was taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol.
