A Chattooga “2A Rally” is scheduled to take place today at the Chattooga County Memorial Home in Pennville. The event organizers say that there will be information tables set up at the event along with voter registration and information. The Chattooga County Amateur Radio Club will be on hand and there will be several speakers from Chattooga and surrounding counties. The rally in support of the Second Amendment will also hear from GOP Congressional Candidate Marjorie Greene, according to organizers. Also, their will be an open mic for local residents to speak up to five minutes at the rally. The event will get underway at 11 AM.
Republican leaders in Georgia continue to voice their support for one candidate in the GOP Primary Runoff race and to express their concern about another. This week, the endorsements for Dr. John Cowan of Rome continue to flood in as many established Republican leaders express their growing concerns with Marjorie Greene. Greene is a construction company executive who won forty percent of the vote in a crowded field in the Primary Election.
The Foundation at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has awarded a $500 scholarship to one qualified student at each of the 26 high schools and five college and career academies in the northwest Georgia region. Two students at Trion High School received a scholarship of $250 each.
Mrs. Evelyn Lee Mathews Braddy, age 87 of Trion, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020 at the residence of her daughter in Cartersville, Georgia following an extended illness.

Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan this week introduced hate crimes legislation that empowers communities by giving them the ability to seek a hate crimes charge from a grand jury if local prosecutors don’t. The bill would also create a separate offense for “bias-motivated intimidation” for alleged hate crimes, which satisfies the constitutional protections of due process by requiring an indictment.
