Chattooga County voters had the opportunity to vote early in the June 9th election on Saturday. According to the Chattooga County Registrar Office, over 100 voters took advantage of Saturday voting. Early voting will continue through Friday of this week for the Primary Election. The Primary will be held on Tuesday, June 9th with some changes due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The City of LaFayette will open the municipal swimming pool on Monday, June 15th… but there will be a number of new safety restrictions due to COVID-19.
The self-response phase of the 2020 U.S. Census, originally scheduled to run through July 31, has been extended to Oct. 31, one of several adjustments to the Census calendar in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a Census Bureau press release.

Attorney General Chris Carr has joined a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general urging Congress to pass a bill known as the Safeguarding America’s First Responders Act. The bill would permit the families of first responders, who die or are permanently and totally disabled as a result of COVID-19, to receive the same federal benefits extended to first responders, or their survivors, otherwise killed or injured in the line of duty.
