Today Last Day To Register To Vote In June Primary

This has been an unusual year in many ways.  The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many areas of our lives, including how we are doing politics in this election year.  The Presidential Preference Primary was intended to be held in March in Georgia, then it got postponed to May when the Primary Elections would be held.  Then, that got moved to June.  If you aren’t registered to vote, today is the last day you can register if you want to vote in the June 9th Primary Election.

Cloudland Tradition Will Be Altered This Year Due To Pandemic

It’s a tradition that has continued at a small church at Cloudland for over 130 years.  “Decoration Day” was once held at many churches and cemeteries across the South, but in recent decades the day to remember loved ones who have passed on has faded into history in many communities.  However, the tradition has remained alive at Mt. Olive Church at Cloudland.

Trion Schools Announce 2020 Graduation Plans

According to Dr. Phil Williams, Superintendent of Trion City Schools, Trion High School will hold graduation on July 31st, 2020 at 8 p.m. at Sam R. McCain Stadium / Clarence Blevins Field given that weather permits and circumstances allow. If there is inclement weather on July 31st, the ceremony will be moved to August 1st, 2020 at 10 a.m.

Alabama Man Arrested On Child Sex Charges In Northwest Georgia

A Fort Payne, Alabama man was arrested late last week on charges of criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, furnishing obscene material to a minor, use of a computer to entice a child, obscene internet contact with a child, sexual exploitation of children and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
