Sheriff Schrader Update On Saturday Night’s Armed Robbery

Last Saturday, armed robbers held up a convenience store on Highway 48 just outside of Summerville.  The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department had been reviewing evidence and investigating the incident.  On Tuesday night, Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader released a statement about the incident and warned other stores in the area to be vigilant.

Council Approves Interim City Manager’s Contract

The Summerville City Council met on Monday evening of this week and approved a contract for the interim city-manager.  The council voted to approve the four-month contract for Andrea Surratt, whose most recent job was city manager in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  A provision in the contract allows the council to extend the contract if a full-time city manager is not hired within the four-month period.   The council also voted to transfer funds from the city’s restricted account to pay for the chassis for a new fire engine for the Summerville Fire Department.  The council approved a motion to finance the balance of the new fire truck with Truist bank.
