Vandals Overturn Picnic Tables

Summerville Police were called about an act of vandalism on Senior Drive in Summerville on December 1st.  According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, someone overturned concrete picnic table near the Chattooga County multi-purpose building.  According to the report, that was released late last week, the Summerville Police Department was requested to add extra patrols in the area.

Armed Robbery Reported At Highway 48 Convenience Store

UPDATED WITH STATEMENT FROM CHATTOOGA COUNTY SHERIFF MARK SCHRADER (1 PM – Sunday) 

An armed robbery was reported on Highway 48 just outside of Summerville on Saturday night.  According to reports, two black males, dressed in black and wearing sunglasses, entered the Highway 48 Food Mart, located at 1360 Highway 48.  One of the suspects was armed and the other was carrying a backpack.  It is not known at this time how much was stolen during the robbery.  WZQZ News is working to get more information on the robbery.  According to reports, there was no description of the suspect’s vehicle given.  We will have more information as it becomes available from local law enforcement. Kemp Extends Gas Tax Suspension Another Time

Governor Brian P. Kemp, joined by Lt. Governor-Elect Burt Jones, Speaker Jan Jones, and Speaker-Nominee Jon Burns, on Thursday announced he has extended the temporary suspension of the state motor fuel and locomotive fuel tax and the supply chain state of emergency until January 10, 2023. The state leaders also reiterated their support for a next phase of inflation relief through a second tax refund, equal in size to this year’s, and an extension of the homestead tax exemption that will be introduced in the coming legislative session. FBI Takes Over Investigation In Rome Into Anti-Semitic Flyers
