Summerville Police recently conducted a traffic stop on Commerce Street near Bryant & Sons Lumber Company after they noticed a Ford passenger vehicle driving erratically.
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of a nursing assistant employed by Pruitt Health-Shepherd Hills in LaFayette, accusing him of sexually assaulting a female resident of the facility.

Anheuser-Busch has announced that as part of its commitment to supporting the safe and strong recovery of the U.S. economy, it is increasing its investment in its Cartersville brewery from $85 million to $150 million. The investment, which was originally announced in January, will support new brewing capabilities, the creation of a new can line, and will generate new efficiencies in the brewing process as the company continues to lead in meeting evolving consumer demand. The expansion of the brewery reaffirms the brewer’s commitment to local jobs during a time of economic uncertainty caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Chattooga County Probate Judge Becky Duke says that the Probate Judge’s Office will be closed next Tuesday, Election Day (November 3rd) and the next day, Wednesday, November 4th. Judge Duke says that the office will reopen on Thursday, November 5th. Judge Duke added, “I would like to thank everyone for their patience with us throughout this election period.”
The City of Summerville Christmas Parade will look a little different this year! With earlier city-sponsored special events put on hold this year due to COVID-19, officials were determined to think outside of the box concerning the annual Christmas parade and come up with a safe solution. In order to safely hold its annual Christmas Parade during the Coronavirus Pandemic, the city will be taking a different approach. Instead of the usual format, Summerville will host a “reverse parade,” with stationary floats and displays.
With slightly more than 1 week to go, 42% of active voters in Chattooga County have already cast ballots. This is a significant surge from past years and is part of the record early turnout that Georgia has seen so far ahead of the November elections.
