How do you pick the best gift for that outdoors enthusiast on your holiday gift list?

Before heading to the stores, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division wants to tell you about a gift that benefits wildlife and the wild places that all hunters and anglers enjoy—a hunting and fishing license!

A youth license, a lifetime license or an annual hunting or fishing license are all great examples of how to give access to the great outdoors, and provide support for Georgia wildlife and state-managed lands.

Car Hit in Ingles Parking Lot

According to records from the Summerville Police Department, county man Kevin Myrick’s car was struck in the parking lot of Ingles Shopping Center while he was out bowling.

Myrick told the officer taking the report that he left his white 2007 Saturn Aura parked at the grocery store, but that he returned to find his driver’s side smashed. A large yellow streak was left by the car that struck Myrick’s vehicle, and his door’s glass shattered and the door not openable.

The incident is currently under investigation by the SPD.

Deal: State government will delay opening until 10 a.m. Tuesday

Acting on the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that state government will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. The National Weather Service has warned that counties basically north of I-20 may have black ice on roads as temperatures drop below freezing overnight.

Mrs. Goldie Cordle Patty, age 91 of Trion, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced by the Coffman Funeral Home.

Both Local School Systems Delayed For Tuesday

The National Weather Service’s Peachtree City bureau has issued a winter weather advisory that icy spots, including possible black ice, may be encountered on roadways tonight and tomorrow morning.

Chattooga County School Supt. Jimmy Lenderman says that Chattooga Schools will operate on a three hour delay on Tuesday morning.  Trion School Supt. Phil Williams says that Trion City Schools will operate on a two hour delay on Tuesday morning.

Chattooga County buses will be running three hours later than normal on Tuesday morning.
