The annual Chiaha Harvest Festival will be held this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, October 27th and 28th, from 10 AM to 5 PM. As always, it will be held at Ridge Ferry Park in Rome, GA.
30-year-old Summerville man James Russell Frost III was jailed at Government Plaza in Rome this week after he allegedly hit a victim in the throat, leaving visible marks.
Reports added that Frost also used profane language in public.
Frost is charged with battery, public drunk and disorderly conduct.

The Chattooga County School Board recognized their Teachers of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year at last Thursday night’s Board of Education meeting. One teacher from each of the five county schools was recognized. the Teachers include Heather Bachelor from MES, Jeff Owings from CHS, Rachel Groce from LMES, Rhonda Bannister from LES and Randy Steward from SMS. United by Faith Baptist Church will host a ‘Trunk or Treat’ this coming Saturday beginning at 5 PM.
It will be an evening filled with fun and fellowship. There will be hamburgers, hotdogs, kids’ inflatables, a bonfire, and games, all free of charge.

North Summerville Baptist Church (located at 119 Maplewood Dr.) will host its Fall Festival this Saturday, October 27th.
The festival will be 6-8 PM with inflatables, games, June’s cake walk, hotdogs, and more. Pastor Sammy Barrett invites everyone to come join in good, Christian fun, fellowship, and food.

At the city of Summerville’s special called meeting last night, the city officially authorized the city attorney to begin contract negotiations with Janice Galloway to be hired as the new city manager.
According to records released last week by the Summerville Police Department, city resident Jacquarius Roberts called 9-1-1 Wednesday evening to report that his Hankins Dr. home had been burglarized.
Roberts said that when he arrived home around 4 PM, the home’s rear door, the rear sliding glass door to his mother’s bedroom, and a bathroom window were all open. He said his mother’s bedroom had been “completely ransacked”.
Robert’s mother Sandra Adams met with the officer and provided an itemized list of the stolen property, including $4,000 in cash, almost $1,000 in rare coins, and some diamond jewelry of unspecified value.
