As a band with younger members with less experience, the Chattooga High School marching band is determined to make their age a blessing.

Under a “Got it Bad” theme, the featured music from the band includes, “Hey Baby,” “Bad Case of Loving You,” “Always on my Mind,” “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Hurt so Bad.”

Laci McGinnis and Courtney Lewis, the two drum majors who are only sophomores, are working as leaders to pull together Chattooga’s young players.

Courtney is in the Future Business Leaders of America and plays the French horn in the Chattooga High School concert band.

Laci is planning on pursuing music in college.

Although the band director, Ken Smith, has many administrative responsibilities, Courtney and Laci have significant roles of leadership, group representation and instruction in the band.

The Rome News-Tribune recently caught up with Courtney and Laci to get some information about their band.
