There’s Hope for the Hungry will be at Central Avenue Baptist Church in Trion this week on Thursday, February 8, to give away free groceries. Come between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm to get your free groceries. No ID is required. But you must be present to receive the food. The church is located at 14074 Highway 27 in Trion.
The Summerville 1st United Methodist Church will be having an Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, February 14th at 6pm in the Sanctuary followed by normal Wednesday Night Supper in the Fellowship Hall
The 1st Annual Summerville 1st United Methodist Church Chili Cookoff will be held on Saturday, March 16th in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 4pm. Free to enter, just bring a crockpot of your best chili recipe! $10 entry fee for “eaters” which includes bottomless chili samples, a piece of cornbread, drink and dessert. Winners chosen by the crowd. Funds raised will go towards a new roof for our historic building as well as other ministries of SFUMC. This event is open to ALL!
There will be a homecoming celebration at the New Beginnings Baptist Church on Sunday February 11th at 10:30am. The Heirborn Quartet will be performing. The new pastor of New Beginnings Baptist Church is Jeff Shaver and he invites everyone to attend. New Beginnings Baptist Church is located at 147 East 1st Avenue in Summerville.
Trion United Methodist Church will have their Brunswick Stew available Saturday, February 3rd. It is $9 per quart. It is on a first come first served basis. Reminder calls do not guarantee stew will be available. You may pick up your stew around 9:30 a.m. thru 1:00 p.m.
Also, the United Methodist Men will have a bake sale with a selection of cookies, brownies, fried pies, cakes and other goodies.
South Summerville Baptist Church will be observing Homecoming this Sunday January 28th with services beginning at 10:30 a.m. No Sunday school. Joe Mullins and the Radio City Ramblers will be leading the service thru music and testimony. Lunch to follow.
