There will be an “Ecumenical Service” honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday January 14th at the Pond Spring A.M.E. Zion Church on Talifaferro Springs Road in Lyerly.  The service will begin at 3pm with the Rev. Jonathan Moore serving as speaker.  Dinner will be served beginning at 2pm at the Maceo Wiggins Fellowship Hall.

On Monday January 15th there will be a “Day of Service” beginning at 11am at the Fairway Recreation Center on Senior Drive in Summerville.  Refreshments will be served.  The public is invited to come out an fellowship by the Rev. Jonathan Moore, Pastor and Rev. Robert Barrett, Pastor and MLK Jr. President.

Trion United Methodist Church will have their Brunswick Stew available Saturday, January 6th. It is $9 per quart. It is on a first come first served basis. Reminder calls do not guarantee stew will be available. You may pick up your stew around 9:30 a.m. thru 1:00 p.m.

Also, the United Methodist Women will have a Bake Sale with a selection of cookies, brownies, fried pies, cakes and other goodies.

The Pond Springs AME Zion Church in the Holland Community will host a Watch Night Service on Sunday December 31st at 10 pm.  Refreshments will be served immediately following the service. Alpine Community Church invites everyone to their live nativity, a Christmas tradition that has been going on for over 3 decades.  The Alpine Church live nativity will be held on Saturday, December 23rd, Christmas Eve – Sunday, December 24th and Christmas Day – Monday, December 25th from 7 PM to 9 PM.  Alpine Church is located on Highway 337 south of Menlo Elementary School.

There’s Hope for the Hungry will be at Central Avenue Baptist Church in Trion this week on Thursday, December 14 to give away free groceries. Come between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm to get your free groceries. No ID is required. But you must be present to receive the food. Central Avenue Baptist Church is located at 14074 Highway 27 in Trion.
