Chamber Luncheon To Feature Tooga Theater

The next Chattooga Chamber meeting will he held next week on September 17th at Noon at the Chattooga County Civic Center on Highway 48 in Summerville across from Truist Bank. Learn about the history of the Tooga and some 100 years of the other theaters in the county . Exciting plans will be unveiled for the rebirth of the Tooga as a community space for concerts, play and programs. You will be able to see virtual pictures of the way it will look and function. Georgia Department Of Juvenile Justice Hosting Career Fair

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice has scheduled a Rome Career Fair for Wednesday, September 18th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Bob Richards Regional Youth Detention Center, 200 Marable Way. Lyerly Down Home Day September 28

The Town of Lyerly has announced the date for this year’s Down Home Day.  Lyerly Down Home Day is a free event open to anyone in the surrounding area.  Attendees will be able to shop with arts and crafts vendors from all over the Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama area and there will be plenty of food vendors as well.  There will be bingo, pony rides, hayrides and an apple pie eating contest.  The event will take place on the last Saturday of the month from 10 AM – 2 PM at Angus McLeod Park in Lyerly.  For more information, contact Lyerly Town Hall at 706-859-2611.

Outdoor Adventure Day At Sloppy Floyd State Park

James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park will be holding Outdoor Adventure Day coming up on Saturday, September 28th from 10 AM until 4 PM. Kids 15 and under can try their hand at catching tagged catfish to win prizes. Bring your own fishing poles and bait. There will be archery opportunities, a birds of prey show, a climbing wall, and a reptile show. Summerville Announces 2024 Downtown Scarecrow Contest

Summerville Main Street has announced the 2024 Downtown Scarecrow Contest. Individuals, business, churches, schools and business organizations are encouraged to enter the contest.  First place prize is $100, second place is $50 and third place is $25.  Scarecrows should be constructed between September 30th and October 3rd.  Official registration forms and rules are available at Summerville City Hall on Georgia Avenue and at the Summerville Main Street Office.  Registration deadline is September 27th.

Chattooga Class Of 1968 Plans Reunion

Menlo School Grandparents Night Next Month

Menlo Elementary School PTO is inviting parents – and grandparents – to attend the PTO meeting in September.  It will be “Grandparents Night” on Thursday, September 5th.  There will be snacks, crafts and a photo booth and an open house from 4 PM until 6 PM.  Parents and grandparents will also be able to visit classrooms and are invited to stay for the PTO meeting at 6 PM.

MLK Committee Fun Day At Lyerly Ball Field

The Chattooga County M.L.K Commission Committee is inviting the community out to a “FUN DAY” that will be held at the Lyerly Ball Field on Monday, September 2, 2024.  The event will get underway at noon.  Bring lawn chairs and tents and everyone is invited to attend.

Labor Day Gospel Fest Monday September 2nd at Cloudland Community Park

There will be a Labor Day Gospel Fest on Monday September 2nd at the Cloudland Community Park.  The event will run from 10am until 2pm Eastern time.  The Gospel Fest is sponsored by the Cloudland Volunteer Fire Department.  There will be no admission fee.  BBQ lunches will be sold for $10 consisting of a BBQ sandwich, chips & dessert.  There will be an open mic for Gospel music and sound equipment is provided.  Bring your instruments and join in!  The Cloudland Community Park is located at 284 Gadsden Avenue in Cloudland.
