North Georgia Cruisers Cruise-In This Saturday

North Georgia Cruisers will have a Cruise In Saturday September 30th from 2 until at Dowdy Park. There will be plenty of food, 50/50 drawing lots of fun and fellowship. Come out and support the North Georgia Cruisers in this Fund Raising activity and enjoy the vintage cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

Blood Drive at Mount Vernon Mills

Mount Vernon Mills and Blood Assurance will be hosting a Blood Drive on Wednesday Sept 27 from 6AM until 5PM in the Denim Mill Central Conference Room at the Central Plaza. A tail-gate style cookout will be held and Football themed shirts or team color socks will be given as a special thank-you to all donors. Blood Assurance normally provides blood products just to our local Tri-state area however with the severe hurricanes in both Texas and Florida, blood donations will be used to help in these hard-hit areas as well. The community is invited to come donate along with Mount Vernon employees. Donors will also enjoy light refreshments.

Gore Fire Department Annual Meeting

The Gore Area Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual meeting coming up on Saturday, October 14, 2017.  The meeting will be held at the Gore Fire Hall located on Highway 27 with breakfast at 9 AM and the meeting at 10 AM.  The public is welcome to attend.

Community Free Lunch at Summerville First United Methodist

The Community Free Lunch will be held this Saturday, September 30th at the Summerville First United Methodist Church from 11-noon. All are welcome.

Chattooga JGG Hosting “5K Zombie Run” Fundraiser; Block Party will Follow

The Jobs for Georgia Graduates program at Chattooga High School will be hosting a zombie-themed 5K race on October 28 at Dowdy Park in Summerville. Proceeds from this race will benefit the Jobs for Georgia Graduates program at Chattooga High School and to help fund the JGG’s trip to the National Student Leadership Academy in Washington D.C. to compete in National Competition.

Benefit for Ill Paramedic Holding 5K

A benefit for Wanda Durham, an EMT with Redmond EMS and former firefighter who needs help with medical bills to treat her cancer, will hold a 5K road race with a mile health walk on November 25 to help raise funds for Durham.

FREE Outdoor Adventure Day at Sloppy Floyd Park

The GA Dept. of Natural Resources is inviting everyone from northwest Georgia to a special Outdoor Adventure Day at “Sloppy” Floyd State Park on Sep 23.

The event is part of the statewide celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day. It is FREE  nd open to all ages, and will include fishing, archery, laser shooting, canoeing, live animal displays, a snake show, and a climbing wall. There will also be demonstrations for how to camp and fly fish. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided on a first come, firs serve basis. The only fee is for a $5 parking pass at the park.

Local Democrats to Hold Monthly Meeting Next Tuesday

The Chattooga County Democratic Party will hold the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 26 at 6 PM.  It will be held at Bobby Lee Cook’s pavilion pool house at 94 Brow Drive in Cloudland.
