Get ready for a festive evening filled with joy, music, and community spirit at “A Christmas in Wonderland,” an exciting event sponsored by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee. The celebration will take place at Kuzzin’s Sport Lounge, located at 108 Hemlock Drive in Summerville, on December 21st, from 6:00 PM until the festivities wind down.
There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing food at the South Summerville Baptist Church on Wednesday December the 18th from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Food must be picked up in person.
A 13 week Griefshare Program will begin January 9th at the Pennville Church of Christ in the fellowship hall. The program will be held on Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm. Join the Friends of Sloppy Floyd, Santa, the Grinch, and Mrs. Cardinal for the Peppermint Project, an event featuring The Woodland Elves of the Peppermint Cave, this Saturday, December 14th from 4 – 7 PM at Picnic Shelter #2. Kids will get to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, make a craft, roast marshmallows, make their picture with Santa, and listen to the adventures of the elves working to meet the deadline for their biggest candy order of the year. It’s going to be a fun night for everyone! There is no charge for the event, however, there is a $5 parking fee per vehicle unless you have an annual park pass. The local libraries have a limited number of park passes that can be checked out at no cost.
The Chattooga County Senior Center is appealing to the community for contributions to fill Christmas stockings for seniors who are homebound. The center will supply the stockings and is seeking donations of items such as ChapStick, hand lotions, socks, tissue packs, travel-sized shampoos and conditioners, Christmas candy, and other small items that would be appropriate for stocking stuffers.
In addition to physical items, the center is also welcoming cash and check donations, with checks made payable to the Chattooga Senior Center. The donation drive will continue until December 16. Contributions can be delivered to the senior center at 184 Senior Drive, Summerville, during operating hours from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Chattooga 4-H Shotgun Team will be hosting a Turkey and Ham Shoot coming up on Saturday, November 23rd. The turkey and ham shoot will be held at the Old Land Fill on Butler Dairy Road in Summerville. Come out and win your Thanksgiving Ham or Turkey by participating in the shoot and support the Chattooga 4-H Shotgun Team. The Trion Lions Club is selling fresh pecans to raise funds for their mission of aiding local residents in need. The proceeds will go towards providing eyeglasses for county residents and supporting projects that supply food and essential items to families facing difficulties.
