Summerville Montessori Pre-K Registration Next Month

Summerville Montessori School is now taking registrations for its Pre-K Preparatory (private pay) and state-funded Pre-K programs for the 2025-26 academic year. The school will have an Open House on two dates: Monday, February 10, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and Monday, February 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. This is a great chance for families to visit the school, meet the staff, and start the registration process. Menlo Lions Club has postponed their Brunswick Stew sale due to the inclement weather expected this weekend.  The stew sale will be held the following weekend.

Spring Volleyball Program At Summerville Rec

The Summerville Parks and Recreation Department has officially started registration for spring sports. This season introduces a Spring Volleyball program for youth, running from mid-March to mid-May 2025, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The program is for age groups 9/10, 11/12, and 13/14, featuring eight regular games and playoffs. Registration is open from January 1 to February 9, 2025, for $10, with late registration from February 10 to 16 for $20. Additionally, a Youth Baseball and Softball League will run from April 7 to May 22, 2025. Trion Rec Spring Sports Registration Starts Tomorrow

The Trion Recreation Department will start registration for spring sports tomorrow, Monday, January 6, 2025. This is a great chance for young athletes to be active, learn skills, and enjoy competition. Sports offered include Co-Ed T-ball for ages 3 and 4, Co-Ed Coach Pitch for ages 5 and 6, and baseball and softball for ages 7 to 12. Registration fees are $10 for city residents and $25 for non-city residents. Chattooga Young Farmers Awards Banquet

The Chattooga Young Farmers will host their annual awards banquet coming next week, on Saturday, January 11th.  The event will be held at the Chattooga County Ag Center, located just off Highway 100 on Middle School Road in Summerville.  Those planning to attend the annual event should contact Chattooga County Young Farmer Director Lauren Jarrett no later than Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Menlo Lions Club Making Famous Brunswick Stew

Menlo Lions Club will be making their famous Brunswick Stew on the 10th of January.  Pick-up will be at Menlo Lunchroom Saturday morning between 7 and 10 AM.  Contact Lee Majors at 706-862-2857 or Elaine at 706-844-2349. to order your stew. The price is $30 per gallon or $8 per quart. The stew sales helps the Menlo Lions Club give scholarships to Chattooga High School students who are going off to college next fall. The Menlo Lions Club also makes sure students who need glasses in our area receive them. 

Chattooga County Blood Assurance Blood Drive January 3rd

Chattooga County EMA / 911 will host a blood drive on Friday, January 3rd, from 11 AM to 3 PM at 170 Farrar Drive, Summerville. Organized by Blood Assurance, this event coincides with National Blood Donor Month, highlighting the critical need for blood donations to support local hospitals and save lives. Participants in the blood drive will receive a limited edition “Save Lives” long sleeve shirt as a token of appreciation for their generosity, while supplies last. The event emphasizes that just one blood donation can save up to three lives—a powerful reminder of the impact each individual can have. To ensure a smooth donation process, Blood Assurance encourages donors to prepare adequately. They recommend eating a nutritious meal before the appointment, bringing a valid ID, avoiding energy drinks, and drinking extra water to stay hydrated. MLK Jr. Committee Presents A Christmas Wonderland” featuring DJ Slick Rick on Saturday December 22nd
