The Trion Fire Department has scheduled their Fourth Annual Community Day for May. The event will feature inflatables, games, fire safety events, free smoke alarms and food. LifeForce will be on hand at the event, slated for May 18th. They are currently accepting vendors for the event. The Chattooga County Library is inviting the public for a 30th Anniversary celebration coming up on Friday, April 19th from 1-2 PM at the Library. Light refreshments will be served.
The Chattooga Young Farmers are having their annual BBQ lunch coming up on Wednesday, April 24th. The lunches will consist of a sandwich, chips and a dessert and are $7 each. Orders will be taken until April 19th for pickup at the Chattooga County Ag Building. Deliveries are available to schools and businesses with five or more orders. Guardian Insurance Partners Agent Adam Lee and Allen Keen Realty are sponsoring an Easter Egg hunt coming up this Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the park in Menlo. Children will have a chance to find 1,000 Easter eggs. Some of those eggs can be redeemed for prizes. Children through the fifth grade are welcome to attend the free event. A photographer will be on had as well as the Easter Bunny. The event will take place at 11 AM this coming Saturday.
There are several events planned at Sloppy Floyd State Park in Summerville coming up in the month of April. The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park invite the public to take advantage of the programs offered at our local state park.
Events include Kayaking 101 which will be held on April 6th. A “Turtle-Time Hike” taking place on April 13th and a Moon Pie Hike coming up on April 23rd.

There’s Hope For The Hungry will be at the South Summerville Baptist Church on Wednesday March 20th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p,m. You must be present to pick up food.
Summerville Main Street invites you to help them kick-off the free Friday Night Live Concert Series in Downtown Summerville which is returning next month in April. To kick off the Friday Night Live 2024 season, Summerville Main Street will be featuring The Sockhops in concert on Friday April 19th from 7 PM – 9 PM. Come enjoy an evening of music at the Open Air Pavilion on East Washington Street from Georgia’s premier oldies entertainment group for over 30 years. Event goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, as seating is limited. Vendors will be on site.
A cleanup day is planned at Macedonia Cemetery in the Teloga Community. The event is set for Saturday, March 23 at 10 AM. Those with loved ones buried at the cemetery are being asked to remove all faded flowers and holiday and seasonal items as well as any plastic or glass items. All decorations will be removed on cleanup day. Volunteers are needed for the cleanup effort.
LAST CALL! This week is last call for Girl Scout cookie sales. Find a Girl Scouts set up at many local businesses, look for the red wagon sellers after school near the court house, or come by Wildflower Gift & Thrift in Trion to get cookies: after Saturday March 16 cookies are gone until next year. Troop 40857 looks forwards to seeing the community members excited and eager to help with their cookie selling goals.
