TMMA Farms in Trion will be celebrating Alpaca Farm Days coming up this Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1st.
The Chattooga County Young Farmers will host a harvest decoration class coming up on Tuesday, October 17th. The decoration class will feature instruction on how to create a harvest succulent pumpkin. The cost for the class is $30 for the public or $20 for young farmer members and will be held at the Chattooga County Ag Center on Middle School Drive in Summerville. Pre-registration is required. The descendants of John Wesley and Nancy Bowman Smith will gather at Menlo Park on Sunday September 24th at noon. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to share.
There’s Hope For The Hungry will be at South Summerville Baptist Church on Wednesday September 20th. They will be distributing food from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Summerville Main Street has announced a return of the Downtown Scarecrow Contest. Families, schools, businesses, civic organizations and churches are invited to enter and help decorate the downtown area for Fall. The deadline to register for the contest is September 28th. Official rules and registration forms are available at Summerville City Hall and Summerville Main Street Office. The winners of the contest will be announced at Noon on October 7th at the SumNelly at Dowdy Park.
The annual Halloween Candy Walk in Summerville will be held three days before Halloween on Saturday, October 28th. The Candy Walk will take place at the open air pavilion, located on East Washington Street and in the Summerville Streetscape Area. There will also be a costume contest, the Pumpkin Palooza, a Pumpkin Derby and a Pumpkin Contest. The Halloween Candy Walk is sponsored by the Trion-Summerville Optimist Club in conjunction with Summerville Main Street. You can see a press release about the day’s events below:
