Bosom Buddies, a community-wide breast cancer support group, will meet on Monday, Aug. 21 from 6 to 7 pm in the boardroom at AdventHealth Redmond.
Bosom Buddies is open to the public for anyone affected by breast cancer. Each meeting is led by a different guest speaker, a light dinner is provided and a donated door prize is given. The meeting will be led by Paige Godwin, RN.

Chattooga EMA will be hosting a Blood Assurance Blood Drive coming up on Friday, August 18th from 2 PM – 7 PM at the EMA Building, located at 170 Farrar Drive in Summerville. Each donor will receive a T-shirt. You can contact Blood Assurance at 1-800-962-0628 to make a donation appointment. You can also register to give blood online at www.bloodassurance.org/ccema. If there is anyone that would like to sign up but does not have access to the internet contact, Pam Vaughn at Chattooga EMA at 706-857-3400 choose option 2 for her office. She will be available to sign you up for an appointment.
The City of Menlo will be hosting a Blood Assurance Blood Drive coming up on Monday, July 31st from Noon until 4 PM. Each donor will receive a t-shirt. The blood donor bus will be located at the parking lot across from Menlo City Hall at Best Manufacturing. Blood Assurance says that one blood donation can save up to three lives. If you plan to donate, you can call ahead for an appointment at 1-800-962-0628. Remember to eat a good meal, avoid energy drinks, drink extra water and bring your ID when you come to donate blood.
Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden hosts its annual two-day art festival, Finster Fest, on September 23 & 24, 2023, in Summerville, Georgia in historic Paradise Garden. Finster Fest will feature over 65 folk, craft, and fine artists, music performances, and special guest presentations. In addition, patrons will experience the finest southern fare, a children’s art activity area, and, of course, the chance to tour Howard Finster’s famous folk art environment. “Our festival patrons travel from 12 states to attend this nationally recognized art festival and we appreciate the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts for being our lead sponsors and supporters,” said Tina Cox, Executive Director of Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden Foundation.
