Jr. Ranger Camp registration is now open at Sloppy Floyd State Park in Summerville. Campers will learn outdoor survival skills, the basics of fishing and creating various crafts. Next week on Thursday, June 29, from 5-6 pm ET, Paradise Garden will host a yoga class with teacher Destin Padgett. All ages and experiences with yoga are welcome to register! There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing food at South Summerville Baptist Church this Wednesday June 21st from 10am until 1pm.
Chattooga High School will have a youth football camp on Tuesday, June 27th and Wednesday June 28th at the Little Big Horn Stadium. The youth football camp is open for children ages six to eleven and will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 PM each evening. The camp is FREE! and a t-shirt will be provided.
The Big Sky RC club on Sunnydale Road in Menlo is planning a Red White & Blue Fun Fly for this weekend. The four-day event will be held Thursday, June 22nd – Sunday, June 25th. The cost to participate is $25 and includes a dinner Saturday evening. Visitors and spectators are welcome to attend. The City of Summerville’s Celebrate Independence is a free community event will be held at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center. Traditional attractions include food vendors, water slides, sack races, free watermelon slices, corn hole tournament, and concerts. New this year, activities for the entire family and a “Kid’s Zone” and also a Best Patriotic Dressed Contest for Adult & Youth. This year’s free concerts will feature local favorite Chip Rowland as the opening act for the APB 1st Generation Band. The Chattooga County Senior Center will be hosting a yard sale this Friday June the 9th from 8am until 2pm at the Senior Center. The Senior Center is located at 184 Senior Drive in Summerville directly behind the Chattooga County Library.
In conjunction with the yard sale, the Chattooga County Senior Center will also be hosting a fish fry fundraiser at the Summerville Recreation Center from 8am until 2 pm. Fish plates, which consists of fish, fries, slaw and hushpuppies, will be $8 and fish sandwiches will be sold for $5. Pre-orders are available. All proceeds will be split between the AC Carter Alumni and the Chattooga County Senior Center.
