A multi-employer job fair will be held on Monday, March 27th from 1 PM – 3 PM at West Rome Baptist Church, located at 914 Shorter Avenue in Rome. Some of the employers that will be at the job fair include the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Georgia Department of Labor, the Georgia Department of Public Health, Shorter University, Zaxby’s, Ball and others.
There will be a 3-on-3 basketball fundraiser for the A.C. Carter Consolidated School Scholarship Fundraiser. Entry fee is $25 for boys and $20 for girls. Five-man roster is required. There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing food this week at the South Summerville BaptistChurch on Wednesday March 15th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The City of Menlo will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt coming up on Saturday, April 1st. Admission is free, and the hunt will be from 1 PM-3PM at Menlo City Park. There will also be snacks and pictures with the Easter Bunny. The hunt will be divided for age groups. Everyone is welcome to attend.
It won’t be long until it is time for the Easter Bunny, and he’s making a stop at Sloppy Floyd State Park! Be sure to bring the kids and take a picture with the Easter Bunny. You will find him at the fire ring in front of the park office. There is no charge to take pictures, and each child will be given a treat bag. A $5 parking pass or an annual pass per vehicle is required by the park. The Chattooga and Trion Libraries have a limited number of parking passes that can be checked out at no cost. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures on Saturday, April 8th from 11 AM until 2 PM at Sloppy Floyd State park.
Hope For The Hungry will be distributing free groceries on Thursday, March 9th at the Central Avenue Baptist Church. There’s Hope for the Hungry will be giving away boxes of food from 10 am to 1 pm. The Chattooga Songfarmers will be having a gathering this Saturday at the Fairway Recreation Center located 81 Senior Drive in Summerville. The event will be held from 1 to 4 pm. In addition to all the great music, Reita’s fried pies, homemade ice cream, jellies and jam, soft drinks, and Brunswick Stew and chili will be available! All musicians are welcomed and audience participation is encouraged!
Local farmers and agricultural producers who were adversely affected by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are eligible to apply for a local farm grant, and farmers are urged to apply as the deadline is coming up at the end of March.
The Dry Valley Baptist Church Clothes Closet will be open this Friday March the 10th from 9am until 11am. Everyone is welcomed that is in need of clothing.
