Menlo Lions Club will be making Brunswick Stew on Saturday, February 3, 2023 and pickup will be Saturday morning between 7 AM and 10 AM. Price is $8 a quart or $30 a gallon. The stew sales helps the Menlo Lions Club give $500 scholarships to Chattooga High School students who are going off to college next fall. March 29 is National Vietnam Veterans Day. A community ceremony is being planned to honor all Vietnam veterans in the county, and officially present Honor Certificates and federal Department of Defense lapel pins to those Vietnam veterans who have not yet received them.
The 20223 Miss. Trion Pageant will be held this year on Saturday, March 18th at 3 PM at the Trion High School Gym. The pageant is open to any female student at Trion City Schools. The entry fee is $40 for each contestant. You can find all the details about this year’s Miss Trion Pageant HERE
Local Scouts will be participating in Scouting for Food on Saturday, February 11, 2023:
There will be a Blood Assurance blood drive this Wednesday at Mount Vernon Mills in Trion. Those planning to donate blood should drink plenty of fluids including juice or water. It is a good idea to drink more water than your usual intake on the day of your donation. Donors are also asked to avoid caffeine and alcohol. The blood drive will take place from 7 AM – 5 PM. Blood Assurance is a nonprofit, full-service regional blood center serving healthcare facilities in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky and North Carolina.
If you have a child that will be four-years-old on or before September 1, 2023, you need to get them registered for pre-k next week. Pre-k registration is taking place for both Chattooga and Trion four-year-old children starting on Monday.
There’s Hope For The Hungry will be distributing food at the South Summerville Baptist Church this Wednesday January 18th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Dry Valley Baptist Church Clothes Closet will be open this Friday January 13th from 9am until 11am. Everyone welcome clothes are free to those in need.
