Chattooga GOP will meet Thursday, January 5th at 6 pm at the Senior Center in Summerville. Guest speakers will be representatives of the Georgia Republican Assembly. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce has scheduled their December meeting for next Tuesday, December 13th. The luncheon will be held at noon at Sweet P’s at the Tavern in Trion. The guest speakers for the chamber meeting will be Mark Pickle and Mike Martin from Mountain Education Charter High School. The Dry Valley Baptist Church Clothes Closet will be open this Friday December the 9th from 9am to 11am. The clothes closet provides free clothes to those in need. Dry Valley Baptist Church is located at 451 Dry Valley Church Road in Summerville.
The City of Summerville will be presenting Christmas in the Park at Dowdy Park this coming Friday, December 9, 2022. The event will run from 6 PM – 9 PM and will feature the Best Dressed Elf Contest, the Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest, the Christmas Cookie Smack Down Contest and the lighting of the tree, which will take place at 7 PM by the winner of the Best Dressed Elf Contest. Paradise Garden in Pennville is inviting the public to a Bluegrass Christmas Party coming up on Saturday, December 10th. The party will be held from 5 PM – 8 PM at Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden at 200 North Lewis Street. Bluegrass Band Russell McClanahan & Friends will provide some good Bluegrass music. The party is free to Paradise Garden Members and Chattooga County Residents.
The Holidays are right around the corner and the Chattooga County Food Pantry is in desperate need of donations. The food pantry is located at 152 Senior Drive in Summerville and is open from 8:30 AM until 5 PM, Monday-Friday. The food pantry will take donations of non-perishable food items to help those in need in Chattooga County. Donations may be made by check, but the food pantry cannot take cash. The Trion Public Library is inviting kids to a Holiday “Grinchmas” Event that will be held on Friday, December 9th. Children can have their picture made with the Grinch and participate in a Christmas Craft. The 2018 Grinch movie will be shown. The event will take place from 4 PM – 6 PM at the Trion Library, located at 15 Bulldog Boulevard in Trion.
