The Town of Trion will have a regular Workshop / Council Meeting in the Town Hall Conference Room, Thursday, February 22, 2024. The Workshop will begin at 6 PM and the Regular Meeting will follow shortly after. A Summerville man who says he is running in the Republican Primary for sheriff says that charges that were brought against him in March of last year involving an altercation with a school bus driver were “exaggerated”. Edwin Lee Raughton told the local newspaper last week that Chattooga County Chief Deputy Kevin Woods couldn’t charge him with a felony because “there wasn’t enough evidence”.
According to a report recently released by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a fifty-four-year-old Summerville woman was arrested at a local motel on the last day of January after another woman accused her of sexually assaulting her inside a motel room.
Agents with the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force brought charges against a Highway 337, Menlo woman earlier this month after they found drugs in her possession. Agents spoke with Crystal Michelle Patterson, age thirty-nine, and found drugs on her person. According to court records, Patterson was hiding drugs on her person. Agents also found a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue. Patterson was charged with felony drug possession and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
Once again this week, Georgia gas price averages increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are paying an average price of $3.16 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 13 cents more than a week ago, 19 cents more than a month ago, and 6 cents less than this time last year. It now costs an average of $47.40 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying almost $1.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.
Last week, the Georgia Senate passed legislation which would revise the minimum and maximum allowable benefit multiplier for current and future retirees in the Public-School Employees Retirement System.
