Georgia gas price averages continued a downward trend ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $2.82 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).

Rome Police say that a twenty-one-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly started shooting at a woman on East 16th Street. According to arrest records, Keson Messiah Lovingood told his girlfriend that he was coming back to her house to “shoot it up”. A two-year-old child was present at the time of the incidents, according to police. This isn’t Lovingood’s first arrest on firearm related charges. In 2019, he was arrested after bringing a stolen gun to Pepperell High School. Lovingood has been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and acts, pointing or aiming a gun at another, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children in connection with the latest charges.
The embattled United Methodist Church (UMC) has lost more congregations in Georgia after more conservative-minded congregations vote to disaffiliate from the denomination over what those that are leaving see as failure of the denomination’s leadership to enforce the church’s official commitment to biblical principals. That includes more Methodist churches in Chattooga County.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s Securities Division partnered with Funding The Future, a nonprofit organization focused on promoting financial literacy in schools. Funding the Future, featuring musician Carter Hulsey, visited 7 schools from October 23 through November 3 with a total of 9 shows. This financial literacy-focused live event reached more than 3,700 students across Georgia.

One person received non-life threatening injuries in connection with a motorcycle crash on Sunday. According to a preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol that was released to WZQZ News on Monday morning, for unknown reasons, the driver of a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle lost control of the vehicle on Highway 27 near Magnolia Ridge. While no names were released with the preliminary report, the Georgia State Patrol says one person was transported to the hospital in Rome and charges are pending in connection with the accident.
