Here is the latest arrest report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office for Monday, November 13, 2023:
October is typically the driest month of the year in Georgia, but this fall, the Northwest Georgia region has experienced little to no rain. As of last week, most of Chattooga County is now considered to be in the “exceptional drought” category per the U.S. Drought Monitor. The rest of the county is considered “extreme drought”.
Chattooga Family Connection will be hosting the 7th Annual Home for the Holidays free food distribution coming up later this week. The event will be held on Thursday, November 16th from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Community Resource Center of Chattooga County, located at 50 Eleanor Avenue in Summerville. The drive-thru event is open to anyone in Chattooga County in need of food for the holidays.
The Chattooga County Young Farmers hosted the 6th Annual Pig Project Show and Auction on Monday, November 6th at the Chattooga Ag Center. Nine students exhibited 18 pigs at the show.
The Summerville City Council will hold their regular monthly meeting for the month of November coming up this evening at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall. The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is being sued by a former youth camp worker who claims she was discriminated against and ultimately fired for reporting alleged homophobic comments by her supervisor and other colleagues.
The GBI has arrested a forty-eight-year-old Walker County man in connection with the death of Tammy Cropper that happened last month. According to a press release from the GBI, Christopher Bullock was taken into custody in Hamilton County, Tennessee and turned over to Georgia authorities. Bullock is accused of shooting to death the fifty-one-year-old woman in Rossville on October 5th. The Rossville Police Department requested the assistance of the GBI in the investigation. Back in October, Walker County 911 dispatched Walker County Sheriff’s deputies and Rossville PD officers to a possible shooting call. Deputies and officers arrived on the scene and entered the apartment to find Cropper fatality shot inside her bedroom and Bullock with a gunshot wound. Bullock has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
