This week, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Board voted to appoint Walter Rabon as the DNR Commissioner, effective immediately. Rabon has served as Interim Commissioner for the Department since July 1, following the departure of former Commissioner Mark Williams.

GHC Releases Summer President’s & Dean’s List

Georgia Highlands College has announced students named to the Summer 2023 President’s List and Dean’s List. To achieve President’s List status, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and attain a minimum of nine semester hours of credit. To make Dean’s List students, must complete a minimum of nine semester hours and achieve at least a 3.5 average.

Vendors Announced For This Year’s Chattooga County Agricultural Fair

The Chattooga County Agricultural Fair opens Thursday at 5 PM.  Thursday night is “Student Night” and there will be no gate admission for students; all others will pay a $5 gate admission.  The gate admission covers everything at the fair – including the petting zoo – except the midway rides and the helicopter rides.  You can see a list of this year’s fair vendors below:

Chattooga County Ag Fair Opens Tomorrow

The 2023 Chattooga County Agricultural Fair opens tomorrow, Thursday, August 24, 2023 and will run through Sunday.  Students in the Chattooga County School System will have early release tomorrow at 1:30 PM.  All children should be picked up by 2 PM.  Tomorrow is “Student Night” at the fair, sponsored by the City of Summerville and students will have free gate admission.  Regular gate admission is still just $5.  Also on Thursday, ride arm bands will be $5 off.  Chattooga County firefighters will be on hand to assist with parking again at the fair this year.  The cost to park is a donation for the county’s fire departments.  Also, the Chattooga County CERT Team will be on hand to assist with security at the fair once again this year.
