The county-wide Fifth Sunday Singing is making a comeback. Organizers say that the event will be held the last Sunday of this month at Chesterfield Baptist Church, located just south of Menlo on Jamestown Road. The singing will take place on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Chesterfield Baptist Church will be celebrating the completion of their new fellowship hall. All churches are invited to attend and those attending are asked to bring a covered dish for the fellowship meal. Charges have been filed in connection with a wreck on Shorter Avenue at Tamassee Lane that ultimately claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

A thirty-two-year-old Summerville woman was arrested on drug possession charges last Friday, according to a report from the Summerville Police Department.

Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden hosts its annual two-day art festival, Finster Fest, on September 23 & 24, 2023, in Summerville, Georgia in historic Paradise Garden. Finster Fest will feature over 65 folk, craft, and fine artists, music performances, and special guest presentations. A man reported the theft of his scooter keys to the sheriff’s office on Thursday of last week. Tony Trammel told a responding deputy that he was swimming with a woman at the “Blue Hole” at Raccoon Creek in Berryton. He said that he had the keys to his scooter in his vest pocket while he was swimming, but when he got ready to leave, his keys were missing. Trammel said that he didn’t know the woman’s name, but told the deputy that she was driving a dark-colored Nissan car and that she worked at the Waffle House in Floyd County. Trammel said he believed the woman may have taken his keys, telling the deputy that the woman started “acting strange” before she left. The incident is still under investigation.
