Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is celebrating another major milestone. The library program reports it has been able to gift 200 million books globally since its launch in 1995. And to celebrate, the country music superstar said she is continuing to give back. “I know there are children in communities around the world with big dreams and the seeds of these dreams are often found in books,” Parton said.

Hot Weather Persists Through Independence Day

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia says that hot weather will be with us through the Fourth of July and into the mid-part of next week.  Heat index values will range between 100-110 from today through Wednesday.  This type of heat can be dangerous.  If you are outside, be sure to wear lightweight clothing, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and take frequent breaks.  There is also a chance for pop-up thunderstorms each day through Wednesday.

Fatal Crash Involving Excavator In Adairsville

On Wednesday at 12:44 PM Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to a single-vehicle fatality crash involving a tractor-trailer hauling a yellow CAT excavator on I-75 northbound near mile marker 307 in Bartow County.

Celebrate Independence Tonight!

The City of Summerville proudly presents the 2023 Celebrate Independence Festival & Fireworks Show. This free community event will be held at the Chattooga County Agricultural Center this evening, starting at 5:30 PM . The festival and fireworks show has been a long time family affair and one of the best fireworks shows in northwest Georgia. Attendees can access the festival at the Summerville Middle School entrance, located at 33 Middle School Road. The Summerville Fire Department, along with the Chattooga County C.E.R.T. Judge Graham Facing Political Opposition

Chattooga County Superior Court Judge Kristine Graham will be facing opposition after telling the local newspaper that she doesn’t have any plans to retire.  Graham, the daughter of famed Summerville Attorney Bobby Lee Cook, has served on the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit bench for thirty-one years.  She was appointed to the bench in 1991 by Georgia Governor Zell Miller. Two Ringgold attorneys have announced plans to run against Judge Graham in the next election.
