A fifty-year-old man, Marshall Ralph Payne, was arrested on Tuesday night in Murray County on murder charges in connection with the death of Donald “DJ” Fickey, Jr. Fickey was found dead in Walker County in 2016. Originally, Fickey’s death was ruled as a suicide, but in 2020 the Georgia Bureau of Investigation changed the cause of death to “undetermined”.

Trion Softball Kiddie Kamp is coming up next month, July 24th and 25th. The event will be held at the J.W. Greenwood Athletic Complex, Trion High School Softball Field. The cost is $30 per camper and includes a T-shirt. It is open for youth ages 5-12 and they are asked to bring a water bottle, bat and glove. The event will include fundamental teaching and practice in hitting, throwing, pitching, fielding and base running. Campers should sign up by July 10th to be guaranteed a t-shirt.
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Wednesday of last week in Trion.
Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry is looking to widen Bryant Road in the Teloga Community. The commissioner is seeking bids for surveying and engineering work for the widening of the road that runs north of the Trion-Teloga Road. Bid information is available at the Chattooga County Commissioner’s Office on Commerce Street in Summerville. Bids will be accepted until this Friday, June 9, 2023.
