Snakes are common across Georgia, even in urban and suburban areas. As development and population growth continue in Georgia, encounters between humans and snakes will increase. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says snakes are economically beneficial because they eat rats, mice, and other animals deemed to be pests. Some snakes have been used as bioindicators to assess pollutants in terrestrial or aquatic ecosystems. Of the forty-seven species of snakes found throughout the state, only seven are poisonous. A twenty-nine-year-old Armuchee man was being held without bond this week after he fled from Floyd County Police on Sunday. According to reports, Bill Franklin Douglas III fled and was driving 20 mph over the speed limit at the time of his arrest. He has been charged with DUI, felony fleeing from police, failure to maintain lane, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, a number of other traffic infractions and six counts of obstruction of law enforcement after he resisted arrest.

Authorities in Cherokee County, Alabama are asking the public to be on the lookout for a farm tractor that was stolen. Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver says that the stolen tractor is a 2017 Kioti DK4510 with front-end loader. Also stolen, was a orange Taylorway 96 – 6 foot rotary tiller and a black 2005 18 foot utility trailer with the tag number of 13AA2RU.
