Chattooga BOE Meeting Next Thursday

The Chattooga Board of Education will be having a budget meeting next Thursday, June 1, 2023.  The BOE is facing a budget shortfall of about $1.1 million.  Chattooga County School Supt. Jared Hosmer says that state mandated pay raises are part of the reason for the shortfall in the budget.  The BOE will have to decide whether they want to dip into savings or raise property taxes to meet the budget shortfall.  Next Thursday’s meeting is open to the public and takes place at 1 PM.  There will be a 5 PM public hearing.  Both meetings will take place at the Chattooga BOE board room at the Chattooga Education Building on Penn Street in Summerville.
