Inflation A Factor In Trion Mayor’s New Spending Limit

The Trion Town Council has approved a measure that will allow the mayor to spend up to $10,000 without having to call a special meeting of the council.  The council approved the new spending limit at their most recent town council meeting.  The move will allow the mayor to make emergency purchases without having to call the council in for approval.  The measure doubled the amount that was previously authorized.  Also, council members will now be paid $200 monthly instead of $100 and $200 for any called meetings.  The mayor’s salary has also been set at $14,400 annually.  However, the new salaries don’t go into effect until after the next town election.
