Northwest Georgia Set For Warmer Weather, Chance Of Rain Later This Week

Residents of Northwest Georgia can expect a pleasant start to the week, with temperatures climbing from the upper 20s and low 30s this morning into the lower to middle 60s today. Tuesday promises even warmer weather, with highs reaching the mid-60s to mid-70s. Morning lows on Tuesday will remain relatively mild, hovering in the upper 30s to low 40s. The National Weather Service is forecasting a northwesterly flow pattern developing from Tuesday night through Sunday as a low-pressure system over the northern Gulf moves eastward. A brief period of high pressure will settle over the northeast parts of the state on Wednesday, bringing maximum temperatures in the low 70s and low dew points around 40. However, the pleasant weather won’t last throughout the week. A new weather system is expected to move in with a cold front on Thursday, bringing with it mainly rain and a few potential thunderstorms. Forecasters currently predict a 50-60% chance of rain, which could increase to 70-80% as the system approaches. Following the passage of the cold front, high pressure will return, ushering in temperatures approximately 5 degrees above normal into early next week. This means residents can anticipate highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and lows in the 40s.
