Last Thursday evening, Summerville Police responded to a report of a stolen firearm from a residence on Henderson Street. The call came in at approximately 9:51 PM, prompting officers to investigate the situation further. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, identified as Gerald Stewart, who reported that his firearm had been kept under his pillow in his bedroom.

Walker County Commissioners Change Meeting Dates

Due to scheduling conflicts that have arisen for the Board of Commissioners of Walker County, the regular meeting schedule for the remainder of 2024 has been adjusted to accommodate these changes. A public notice has been issued informing residents that the board will be holding their regular meetings on three specific dates in the final quarter of the year – October 24th, November 14th, and December 19th. All of these meetings will take place at 6:30 PM,  and will be held at the Walker County Courthouse Annex III Building, located in LaFayette, at 201 S. Main Street. This revised schedule means that there will be no regular board meetings held on the original dates of October 10th, November 28th, December 12th, or December 26th.

Chattooga Native Named “Ms. Coosa Valley Fair”

The Coosa Valley Fair wrapped up on Saturday evening and Chattooga County native Cydnee Thorenson was named 2024 Ms. Coosa Valley Fair.  Thorenson was the 2018 winner of the Ms. Chattooga pageant.  She attended Trion High School and now works in the medical field and is a exercise physiologist at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center and also works for Northside Hospital in Atlanta.  She is the daughter of Joanna and Ed Thorenson of Trion.  Congratulations to Ms. Thorenson, the 2024 Ms. Coosa Valley Fair.
