Mr. Albert Gwynne “BBQ” Ingle, age 75, of Gaylesville, AL, died Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Cherokee Health and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Ingle was born October 27, 1949, in Trion, GA, son of the late Albert Reynolds “Cotton” Ingle and Grace Ingle. He attended Chesterfield Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with General Electric. He was also a self-employed farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Tracy Kight.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Norton Ingle; daughter, Kristy (Jason) Hammond; sister, Rebecca (Phil) Whisenant; grandchildren, CarolAnn Cash and RosaLee Hammond; nieces and nephews, Trent (Kathryn) Whisenant, Monica (James) Orr, Michael (Penny) Woods, Gary (Suzanne) Woods, Cheryl (Brandon) Blair, Cindy (Bobby) Turpin, Randall (Chris) Stallings, Emily Stallings, Stacy Norton, Stephen Norton, Chris (Jennifer) Norton, and Brandy (Jason) McCool; and a great-nephew, Henry Dean Orr.

Funeral services for Mr. Ingle will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Sunday, May 25, 2025, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Bishop and Rev. Kenny Roach officiating. Interment will follow in Moseley Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Phil Whisenant, Trent Whisenant, Jason Hammond, Larry Ferguson, Adam Mobbs, and Jerry Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Patterson, Tommy Grimes, and Pete Wingfield.

Mr. Ingle will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Sunday.

Mr. Jeffrey Lamar “Jeff” Gardner, age 51, of Trion, GA, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mr. Gardner was born June 28, 1973, in Rome, GA, son of Tommy Lamar Gardner and the late Margaret Ann Nichols Gardner. He was a member of the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center and was self-employed in roof sales. Mr. Gardner was a family man and his passion was watching his kids participate in all activities, and he was an avid supporter of Trion athletics.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cassidy Gardner; sister, Patty Nichols; grandparents, Foy and Paul Gardner, Walter Nichols; and his brother by choice, Casey Wallin.

Survivors include his wife, Tabatha Gardner; sons, Staven Gardner, Gunnar Gardner, Zach (Erica) Gardner; a daughter, Emarey Gardner; father and step-mother, Tommy (Judy) Gardner; sister, Ginger (Greg) Hutchins; grandmother, Betty Nichols; and sister by choice, Starr McGill.

Mrs. Dorothy “Jeanette” Jackson Pickle, age 84, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mrs. Pickle was born August 30, 1940, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the late George Alvin and Ruth Waltz Jackson. She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed raising her 10 children. She was also a member of Chelsea Baptist Church. She had previously been employed with Harriett and Henderson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry “Jack” Pickle, Sr.; a daughter, Karen Jeanette Pickle; sons Christopher Todd Pickle, Sr., Seth Pickle; sisters, Alice Stallings and Linda Craig; a brother, Franklin Jackson; grandson, William Tyler Pickle; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Turner.

Survivors include her sons, Jeremy Pickle, William Henry (Tammy) Pickle, Jr., Michael Lee Pickle, Jonathan Pickle, Jerome Pickle, and Seth Pickle; daughters, Jennifer (Brandi) Pickle, Cynthia (Alan) Pruitt; daughter-in-law, Tina Pickle (Jeff) Holcomb; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Charles Sanford Allen, Jr age 88 of Summerville, GA passed away May 21, 2025 at a Rome, GA Hospital.

Mr. Allen was born December 30, 1936 in Menlo, GA to the late Charles S. Allen Sr. & Bertha DeBerry Allen. He was retired from both Summerville Cotton Mill and Mt. Vernon Mills.

Along with his parents he his preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hines Allen; son, Tony Allen; great-grandson, Tanner Nixon; and several siblings.

Survivors include his daughter, Norma (Clinton) Winters; granddaughter, Crystal (Mark) Nixon; great-grandsons, Anniston (Peyton) Mann, Gavin Mann, Blake (Chelsey) Mann, Branson Nixon; great-great grandsons, Sawyer Mann, Tate Lankford; sister Doris Maxey; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

MR. EVERETT WASDELL EVANS – AGE 82, – Of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1942 to the late John L. Evans and Lelia Finley Evans. Loved ones who preceded him are his two sons, Patrick Lebron Evans, Sr., Gerone Ladelle Evans, two brothers, Alvin Evans, and Lenton Evans. He was retired from Inland Mills for over thirty-eight years, and was a member of Finley Chapel Church.

Ms. Nancy Carol Lowry, age 83 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at Oakview Health.

Ms. Lowry was born in Trion, Georgia on April 3, 1942, daughter of the late William Russell Lowry and Myrtis Josie Adams Lowry. Nancy was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. Nancy was loved by many. She was a very special, loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. All fell in love with her when they met her. In addition to her parents, Ms. Lowry was preceded in death by sisters, Lillie May “Jackie” Mills; Mary Jo Treadaway; Doris Jean Henderson; Betty Ann Tucker; brothers, Floyd Howell Lowry; Herman Lee Lowry. The family would like to thank the staff of Oakview Health for the loving care and kindness shown to Nancy.

Mrs. Linda S. Black, age 81, of Lyerly, GA, died Saturday, May 17, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Black was born August 9, 1943, in Ringgold, GA, daughter of the late Ray Henderson Stapp and Nellie Kate Fowler Stapp. She was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with the State of Georgia. She was a blue ribbon embroiderer and seamstress. Mrs. Black had served on multiple committees in her church and as a past president of the Georgia Veterinarian
Medical Association Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Stapp.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dr. C. Carter Black; daughter, Candi (Charles) Forester; sister, Dr. Jamie (Rev. Joseph) Young; grandchildren, Jordan (Josh) Turner, Emily (Randall) Burns, and Andrew Irvin; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Black will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Summerville First United Methodist Church with Mr. Lorenzo Wiggins and Mr. Garry Floyd officiating. MR. GENE HURLEY, age 95, of Alcoa, Tennessee, former Owner/Operator of the Summerville Hurley’s Grocery Store, passed away Friday evening, May 16, 2025, in Louisville, Tennessee. Mr. Hurley was born in Summerville, Georgia on February 11, 1930 to the late Tollie Ross and Annie Laura Elsberry Hurley. He was longtime member of South Summerville Baptist Church; in addition to Parents was preceded in death by his wife the late Clara Marceline Mobbs Hurley and brother the late Tollie Fay Hurley.

Surviving are daughters, Sherry Reeves and Cecelia Berry; son, David Hurley; grandchildren, Sean Reeves, Tisha Cox, Carrie Daniels, and Marta Bridges; Three Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19th, at 2:00 P.M. from the South Summervile Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Mahan officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Mr. Billy Ray Nelson age 88 of Gaylesville, AL passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at a Rome, GA hospital.

Mr. Nelson was born September 29, 1936 to the Late William Belton and Jessmer Nelson. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church for 22 years. He enjoyed fishing and Alabama Football.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Mary Ann McGinnis Nelson; and sister, Ruby Nell Scrivner.

Survivors include his brothers, Lawrence (Cheryl) Nelson, William A. Nelson, James R. (Kim) Nelson; step-son Bobby Joe (Marquetta) McGinnis, Jr; granddaughter, Laci (Nate) Smitherman, Mahayla (Austin) McGraw; great-grandchildren, Regan, Zack, and McKenna Jo; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Kenneth Lee “Kenny” King, Jr. age 52 of Summerville, GA passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at a local hospital.

Mr. King was born June 29, 1972 in Camp Le Juene, NC to Kenneth L. King Sr. and Dinah McGraw Campbell. He was an auto mechanic and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth L. King, Sr.; grandson, Isaiah Hazel; brother, Joe Clark; grandparents, Fay & Betty Sue McGraw; and niece, Alexis Evans.

Survivors include his loving wife, Amie Williamson King; children, Thiamine (Celeste) Weaver, Kiersten Becker, Hannahstaysia Weaver, and Jesse King; 8 grandchildren; mother, Dinah (Steve) Campbell; siblings, Timmy (Jessica) Caldwell, Amanda Coley, and Amy (Jeremy) Treadaway; business partner/best friend, Roger Williamson; and good friend, Pee Wee Keef.
