Randall “Randy” Croy, OBit (ER)

RANDALL”RANDY” CROY passed away Monday, July 1, 2024. Randy was born August 28, 1957 in Trion, Georgia and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Randy was a member of, and played Trumpet for, Music City Brass, formerly as The Gospel Brass, from 1972 until the time of his death. He was nominated for Musician of the Year in 2005 by the C.C.M.A. which is the Christian Country Music Association. Randy was the former owner-operator of Summerville Florist, and was also a Bus Driver for the Chattooga County School System. He is preceded in death by first wife Jane Dendy Croy; father, Billy Croy, Sr.; brother, Billy “Little Joe” Croy, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Lamar “Marcy” and Kay Croy; maternal grandparents, Homer and Marie Sumner; paternal grandparents, Earl and Ruby Crider.

Randy is survived by his wife, Wanda McGuire Croy; mother Betty Sumner Croy; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Justin Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Holly Croy; grandchildren, Ella Brown, Logan Brown, Annie Fountain; aunts and Uncles, Liz Sumner Jones and Larry Jones, James and Brenda Sumner, Tommy Sumner, Larry Greenman and several Cousins; special friends and Band Mates, Randy Clark and Lloyd Melton.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 6th, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Ward officiating, inurnment in West Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the Family request contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Wounded Warriors.

Rhonda Marie Kirk Wilson, Obit (C)

Mrs. Rhonda Marie Kirk Wilson, age 60 of the Pennville Community, Summerville, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 1, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Scottsdale, Arizona on April 5, 1964, daughter of Cora Jane Byron Kirk and the late Herbert Lee Kirk. She was retired from the Dye Department of VT Industries. Mrs. Wilson loved animals, especially dogs and birds. She also enjoyed watching TV, shopping and fishing.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Allan Wilson; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Joe Burk, Lena Padgett and Sheree and Juan Vallejo; step-children, Paul Wilson, Michael McAteer and Marion Marie Wilson; mother, Jane Kirk; sister and brother-in-law, Oretta and Gary Phillips; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Lisa Kirk, Charles and Terri Kirk and Eddie and Kim Kirk; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Cynthia Wilson, Tommy Wilson and Andy Wilson; grandchildren, Bryson Weaver, Ethen Weaver, Zach Brown, Haley Ledford, Julia Rogers and Sophia Vallejo; 5 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wilson will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Ditman Ray Casey, Sr, Obit (M)

Mr. Ditman Ray Casey, Sr., age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Casey was born March 26, 1943, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Ditman and Thelma Ray Casey. He was a member of Subligna Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Georgia Rug Mill. Mr. Casey was a devoted son and caregiver to his mom. He was also a devoted father and loved the outdoors and wildlife. He served as the librarian at church for several years. Mr. Casey was also an honorary member of Lyerly Lodge # 338, F&AM.

Mr. Casey is survived by his son, Ray Casey, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Mr. Casey’s residence (375 Begonia Drive, Summerville, GA 30747) with Dr. Charles Bishop officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Subligna Baptist Church Men’s Group.

Stacey “Tweeety” Colbert, Obit (ER)

Mr. Stacey “Tweeety” Colbert, age 51, of Farm Road, Trion, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, June 28, 2024, from a sudden attack. He was born in Rome, Georgia on April 20, 1973, the Son of Debbie Gilleland Turner and Gary Colbert. He was a graduate of Trion High School, an insurance adjuster, and Farmer. Stacey was preceded in death by a sister, the late Carrie Colbert and step father, the late Tony Gilleland.

Surviving are His wife, Paige Colbert; mother, Debbie Gilleland Turner; father, Gary Colbert; daughters, Jordyn Colbert and Morgan Colbert; several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 3rd, at 12:00 noon from the Beersheba Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home; also visitation Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until noon at the Church.

Charles Alvin “Chucky” White Jr, Obit (ER)

MR. CHARLES ALVIN “CHUCKY” WHITE, JR., age 57, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, in a Marietta, Georgia Hospice Center. A native of Summerville, He was born to the late Charles Alvin White, Sr. and Doris Jean Brown White on December 16, 1966. Mr. White was formerly an industrial worker.

Surviving are daughters, Crysten Clark and Brittani White; sisters, Elizabeth Carol Hartline and Sonya Mae White; Five Grandsons; several Nieces and Nephews.

James Bradley “Brad” Kay, Obit (ER)

James Bradley “Brad” Kay , May 11, 1960, passed away Thursday June 27, 2024. He was an avid reader and frequently visited the Trion Library at least weekly after he retired.He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and attended Northwestern Technical College where he received a certification in electronics. The family grew up in the Army and settled in Rock Springs where Brad worked farming in his early years with his dad.Later in life he became a caregiver for his mom Betty Jean Kay.

He is survived by his sister Kim Palmour (Albert) and brother Kenny Kay (Hannah) and a lot of nieces nephews great nieces and great nephews. He loved Christmas. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer a donation to the Chattooga County Library (Trion)

Robert Lee “Bud” Love, Obit (M)

Mr. Robert Lee “Bud” Love, known by most as “Papa,” and in later years, “Big Papa,” died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his residence.

Papa was born September 13, 1929, in Chatoogaville, GA, to the late Robert “Bob” Love and Mary Poovey Love Noles. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. After returning home, he worked in the Card Room at Mount Vernon Mills (Riegel) for 34 years.

Papa was known for his love for the Lord, his family, and his gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wives, Bonnie Carol Calaway Love, the mother of his children, and Annie Ruth Millican Evett Love, the mother of his bonus daughter; and 11 sisters and brothers, Grady Love, Margie Love, Mozelle Taylor, Estelle Powell, Belle Powell, Robbie Love, Lloyd Noles, Billy Noles, Junior Noles, Dean Noles, and Mary Faye Denney.

Papa leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Phyllis (Wayne) Lee, Tammy (Curtis) Cleveland; a son, Phillip (Becca) Love; grandchildren, Sonja Ezell Price, Zach (Kaitlyn) Wingold, Alex (Jesse) Puryear, Josh (Shannen) Wingold, Josh Love, Zane (Kara) Wingold, Brandon (Megan) Seymore, Matthew Arrington, Sarah Arrington, and Mackenzie Love; great-grandchildren, Ryan Price, Lane Brown, Tucker Seymore, Dawson Seymore, Peter Puryear, Carson Wingold, Nolan Puryear, and Parker Wingold.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (EST) Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Mount Zion Church with Rev. Jim VanPelt and Rev. John Dow VanPelt officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Price, Lane Brown, Tom Vickery, Ross VanPelt, Paul VanPelt, and Colton Johnson.

Phyllis June Spain, Obit (M)

Ms. Phyllis June Spain, age 77, of Trion, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at her residence.

Ms. Spain was born May 30, 1947, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Jimmie and Gertrude Louise Norton Spain. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department. She had also previously been employed with the Walker County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Bullard.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Young; brother, Douglas (Allene) Spain; grandchildren, Bradley (Courtney) Womack, Kristen Hankins, and Chloe Young; great-grandchildren, Cru Mason Womack, and Hendon James Womack; and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Spain will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Albert Sidney Brumlow, Obit (ER)

MR. ALBERT SIDNEY BRUMLOW, age 95, of Long Hollow Road, Trion, Georgia, passed away Monday afternoon, June 24, 2024, at his residence. A native of Calhoun, Georgia, He was born July 10, 1928, to the late Frank and Maude Slaughter Brumlow. Mr. Brumlow attended the Welcome Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the Spinning Department of Mount Vernon Mills. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Clory Elizabeth Howell Brumlow, children, the late Jerry and Rebecca Brumlow, and several siblings.

Surviving are daughter, Jane Martin (Steve) Clowdis; son, Joel Brumlow; sister, Martha Brumlow Williamson; half sister, Sharon Guttuso; granddaughters, Clory Brumlow Beene and Mary Brumlow Abernathy; grandson, Tracey Martin; several Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27th, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Shores officiating, interment in the family plot of West Hill Cemetery. Wallace Franklin Money, Obit (M)

Mr. Wallace Franklin Money age 89 of Summerville, GA passed away Monday June 24, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Money was born May 19, 1935 in Summerville, GA to the late Franklin and Obera Johnson Money. He was retired from General Electric after 42 years of service and was a member of Floyd springs Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, boxer, softball player, Atlanta Braves fan, carpenter, woodworker, gardener, and tomato farmer.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his Daughter, Angie K. Otwell; siblings, John Money, Jean Freeman, Agnes Cavnah, and Lois Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Peggy Suits Money; children, Liz (Clint) Johnson, Darlene (John) Akridge, Susan (David) Jones , Max (Brandi) Suits, Tammy (Kelly) Bice, son-in-law, Craig Otwell; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Money will take place at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 27 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Teems and Dr. Chris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery with Max Suits, Craig Otwell, Clint Johnson, John Akridge, Ricky Teems, John Money, David Jones, and Austin Ramsey serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandsons.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 noon until the service hour at Mason Funeral Home.
