Mrs. Lois Green Obit (ER)

MRS. LOIS GREEN, age 92, of Filter Plant Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012, at her residence. A native Chattoogan, She was born to the late Robert Wesley and Mary Eva Brown Dover on January 12, 1920. Mrs. Green was a member of Berryton Baptist Church, retired from the rubberizing department of Georgia Rug Mill, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Leonard Green, sons-Jerry Green, Larry Green, and Ray Green; grandsons-Jay Crider, Duel Bandy, and Joey Green; sisters-Lucille Lindsey and Beulah.

Surviving are daughters-Betty June Bandy of Menlo, Nancy Crider of Summerville, Charlotte Woody of Berryton, and Sadie Croy of Lyerly; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 30th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Berryton Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Malcolm Harris officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery; active pallbearers Grandsons. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 until 8 P.M.; at other hours Family will be at the residence of a daughter-Charlotte Woody on Filter Plant Road-Summerville, Georgia.

Mr. Fred Wright, Sr. Obit (M)

 

Mr. Fred LaDon Wright, Sr., age 80 of Trion, GA, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at his residence.
 
Mr. Wright was born in Ft. Payne, Alabama on May 12, 1932, son of the late Grover Cleveland Wright and Minnie Elinore Clark Wright.  An avid fisherman, devoted family man and hard worker, He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War.  Mr. Wright was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, and prior to his retirement, was the owner and operator of Wright’s Body Shop.  In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Wright and a sister, Ruth Martin.
 
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Wright; sons, Don Wright, John Wright, Jim Wright; daughter, Ginger Wright Rhodes; stepsons, Cary Hawkins and Keith Hawkins; stepsister, Kim Hawkins; brothers, Carmin Wright, Alvis Wright and Jimmy Wright; sisters, Katherine Chamlee, Elsie Cooper, and Jane Bishop; grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Brandon Wright, Reilly Wright, Temple Wright, Cybyonni Wright, Chuck Cox, Seth Cox, Ella Rhodes, Evan Rhodes, Evie Rhodes, Dustin Hawkins and Jessica Krutt; two great grandchildren
 
Graveside and Interment services for Mr. Wright will be held Sunday at 1:00 P.M in the West Hill Cemetery with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating, and full military honors being provided.

Mrs. Alice Bruce Obit (M)

 

 

Mrs. Alice Morris Bruce, age 84, of Summerville passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mrs. Bruce was born in Commerce, Georgia on June 18, 1928, daughter of the late Charles Connell and Mary Jane Jackson Connell.  She was a member of the Summerville Senior Center and was of the Baptist Faith.  Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Bruce was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills and was also a sitter.
 
Mrs. Bruce is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Nancy Morris of Summerville; daughters, Janice Morris of Summerville and Judy Morris of Wiggins, Mississippi; a sister, Jewell Hammock of Milledgeville, GA; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bruce will be held Monday, October 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. David Hayes and Rev. Mark Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers will be Danny Botts, Danny Jennings, Cory Hathorne, Lee Fowler, Robert Smith, and John Mark Smith.

Mrs. Sarah Day Littlejohn, age 90 of Lafayette, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 at her residence.
 
Mrs. Littlejohn was born in Trion, Georgia on August 14, 1922, daughter of the late William G. Day and Ethel L. Harris Day.  She was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with E.T. Barwick Mills, Ponderosa Plant.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Littlejohn was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie O. Littlejohn, brothers, Buddy Day and Junior Day; and sisters, Helen Day Durham and Joyce Patterson.
 
Mrs. Littlejohn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles M. and Marjorie Littlejohn of Lafayette; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Roy Brown of Trion and Debbie and Gary Cordell of Lafayette; brothers, Richard Day of Niota, TN and Howard Ray Day of Lafayette; sisters, Jimmie Clark of Ashville, NC and Faye Collins of Valley Head, AL; 9 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. David Eric “Gypsy” Eley Obit (EP)

Mr. David Eric "Gypsy" Eley, age 40 passed away October 21, 2012.  Mr. Eley was born March 30, 1972 in LaFayette, GA.  He was owner of Gypsy's Iron Horse Trading.  He was Baptist by faith.

Mr. Eley was preceded in death by grandfather, J. W. "Pete" Dooley.

Mr. Eley is survived by wife, Joyce Ann Eley of Summerville, GA; son, Bradley Ellis of Summerville, GA; mother, Doris Eley of Summerville, GA; grandmother, Helen Dooley of Summerville, GA; sister, Katie Eley of Summerville, GA; brother, Will Eley of Stockbridge, GA; uncle and aunt, Jim and Karen Dooley of Columbus, GA; cousin, Lauren Sikes of Columbus, GA and grandson, Joseph Ellis of Lyerly, GA.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Waycasey and Rev. Steve Helms officiating.  Interment will be in Spring Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Johnny Blane Shafer, age 68, of Trion, GA, died Monday, October 22,
2012 at his residence.
 
Mr. Shafer was born November 8, 1943 in Valley Head, AL, the son of the
late Harry Blane Shafer and Bonnie Blalock Shafer Hunter.  He was a self employed
Pulpwooder.
 
Mr. Shafer is survived by his wife, Brenda Joyce Shafer; children, Johnny
Chris Shafer, Stanley Ray Shafer, Cynthia Darlene Henson, and Beverly
Annette Jones; brothers, J D Shafer and Hershal Shafer; 11 Grandchildren;
and 2 Great Grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at
Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Malcolm
Harris officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers

Mrs. Lena Mae Mason Obit (M)

Mrs. Lena Mae Mason, age 96, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Mason was born May 13, 1916 in Jamestown, AL, the daughter of the late Joe Issac Tucker and Lula Ann Burgess Tucker. She was a homemaker. She loved to cook and to do her stitching. She made many beautiful quilts for her family to enjoy. Mrs. Mason had attended Pennville Missionary Alliance Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dwight “Frog” Mason; a sister, Carrie Tucker; and brothers, Luther Tucker, Frank “Jack” Tucker, and Elbert Tucker.

Survivors include her children, James Mason, Henry and Peggy Mason, Janice and Gary Abernathy, Summerville, GA, Johnny and Pam Mason, Alice and Mitch Cothran; Gaylesville, AL; and Mary Ann and Mike Raines, Summerville, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, Max Tucker, Roy and Sue Tucker, Gaylesville, AL; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Sanford DeBerrry and Rev. Carlos Martines officiating. Mr. William John Roger Allen Obit (M)

Mr. William John Roger Allen, age 79, of Lyerly, GA died Tuesday, October
23, 2012 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
Mr. Allen was born January 7, 1933 in Gaylesville, AL, the son of the late
Henry Thomas Allen and Fannie Mae Mobbs Allen.  He was retired from
Summerville Cotton Mill.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death
by a sister, Patricia Ann Allen; and brothers, Randy Allen, Broadus Allen,
and Cecil “Dude” Allen.
 
Survivors include his wife, Clara Allen; son, Johnny Darrell Allen; and a
grandson, Ethan Barnes.
 
Graveside and interment services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Wednesday,
October 24, 2012 at Johnson Cementery.  Minister Berlin Murphy will officiate.
 
Mr. Allen will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive
fiends from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Brown Obit (ER)

MS. BARBARA ANN BROWN, age 70, of Espy Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012, in a Rome hospital. Born in Floyd County, Georgia on January 17, 1942, She was the daughter of the late Jessie R. (Peck) Baxter and Bernie McKowen Baxter. Ms. Brown attended the East Trion Church of God and was retired from the finishing lab of Mt. Vernon/Riegel Textile Mills. Surviving are daughter-Kay Brown of Summerville; son-Randy Brown of Kennesaw; aunt-Vestal Hudson of Jacksonville, FL.; granddaughters-Jamie Siggelko and Sarah Brown; several Cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27th, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Mr. David King and Rev. Mr. J. C. Boyd, age 85, of Rome, GA died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Boyd was born April 24, 1927 in Curryville, GA, the son of the late Richard Sidney Boyd and Lula Mae Haralson Boyd. He was retired from General Electric. Mr. Boyd was a member of New Armuchee Baptist Church and Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Mae Young Boyd; brothers, J B Boyd and Randall Boyd; sisters, Edna Fowler, Blanche Autry, Lena Mae Lanier, Ruby Nell Barton, and Betty Ann Moon.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Franklin and Wanda Boyd, Ted Jerald and Dawn Boyd; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Bertha Boyd and Dale and Ann Boyd; grandchildren, John Taylor and Amy Boyd, T. C. Boyd, and Tanner Cole Boyd; great grandchildren, Jacey Boyd and Kendal Boyd.
