Mr. Bobby Lynn Maxwell, age 73, of Gaylesville, AL, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Maxwell was born December 29, 1950, in Fort Payne, AL, son of the late William Lott Maxwell and Gladys Beulah Carr Maxwell. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Harbert International.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by a son, Michael Snider; brothers, Glenn Maxwell, Gordon Maxwell, Mose Maxwell, Doyle Maxwell, Gene Maxwell, Charles Maxwell, Phillip Maxwell, and Billy Maxwell; sisters, Paulette Terry, and Virginia Wade.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Lowery Maxwell; son, Bobby Maxwell, II; daughters, Beverly Maxwell, Brandi Maxwell; a sister, Betty Jo Dake; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Maxwell will be held at 2:00 P.M. (GA Time) Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Dow VanPelt officiating. Interment will follow in Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Austin Abernathy, Lot Maxwell, Eddie Terry, Ricky Mize, Chris Burleson, and Greg Dake. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Simms, Jeff Burleson, and Bobby Bonds.

Mr. Maxwell will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. (GA Time) until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Bobby Don Shaver, Obit (C)

Mr. Bobby Don Shaver, age 77, of Summerville, GA passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 in a Rome Hospital.

Mr. Shaver was born in Trion, Georgia on February 12, 1947, son of the late Paul Shaver and Violet Deering Shaver. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was retired from the Food Lion where he was a meat cutter. He was also owner of Big Bob’s meat processing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shaver was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Deberry Shaver, a sister, Dorothy Simmons; and brothers, Jerry Shaver and Wayne Shaver.

Mr. Shaver is survived by Daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Jamie Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Christina Shaver; sister, Mary Elicker; grandchildren, Ragen &Alec Redden, Jason & Crystal Shaver and Brady Shaver; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Shaver will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Shaver officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Scott Coley, Rusty Dooley, Lamar DeBerry, Matt Rosson, Joseph Jackson and Dewayne Crabtree.

Mrs. Barbara Nell Goss, age 77, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family.

Mrs. Goss was born January 14, 1947, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Ada McGuire and Allen Croy. She was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church, was a textile worker by trade, and her proudest title was Nanny.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Mickey Goss; brothers, Otis Croy, Allen Croy, Harlon Croy, Richard Croy, and Raylane Croy; and a sister, Rosa Mae Crider.

Survivors include loving and devoted companion Ralph Stansell; daughters, Debbie Gentry, Wanda (Tim Earl) Wilson, Jamie (Gary) Holbrook; grandchildren, Tiffany McGuire, Sidni (Connor) Justus, Levi (Misha) Burke, Jared Bearden, Ryan (Kristin) Wilson and 5 great grandchildren; sister, Ethel DeBerry; brothers, Herschel Croy, Robert Croy, and Jimmy Croy.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Kelley and Rev. Joel Smith officiating. MRS. KATHRYN BRADY RAY, age 92, of Cartersville, Georgia formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia, passed away April 16, 2024, in Tucker, Georgia. She was born on August 8, 1931 in Georgia to the late Michael Chele Brady and Annie Bell Ragland Brady.

MRS. RITA FAYE BROWN, age 67, of Walnut Street, Trion, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, morning, April 30, 2024. Mrs. Brown was born in Trion, Georgia on August 11, 1956, a daughter of the late Robert A. Johnson, Sr. and Clara L. Smith Johnson. She was a member of the Church of Christ, a retired mental health technician, and in addition to Parents was preceded in death by siblings Charlotte Todd, Terry Lee Johnson, Sr., and Robert Alvin Johnson, Jr.

Surviving are daughter, April Brown; son, David Jordan; sister, Jackie Cain; brother, Tony Johnson; grandsons, Ashton Jordan, Kaindon Jordan, Noah Jordan, and Jonah Jordan; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3rd, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Shelia Gail Hames Hartline, Obit (M)

Mrs. Shelia Gail Hames Hartline, age 73, of Houston, TX, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence on July 19, 2023.

Mrs. Hartline was born May 30, 1950, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the late Robert and Robbie Brewer Hames. She had worked as an office manager and managed several department stores throughout her career.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mickey Hames.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelly Washington Hartline; brothers, Daryl (Gloria) Hames, and Andy (Susie) Hames.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at AMI Cemetery. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Mr. Charleston Dewayne “Charlie” Eaton, age 38 of Summerville, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at his residence.

Charlie was born in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia on July 30, 1985, son of Samuel Anthony Eaton and Rita Faye Beason Owens. He was employed with the JP Smith Lumber Company and had been attending the Harrell Street Church of God. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved playing video games. Charlie was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Eaton.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Becky Eaton; step-daughter, Makenzey Sauls; sisters, Beth Collins, Keisha Jack, Debra Hefner and Jessica Woody; brothers, Timothy Fowler and Coy Hefner; mother, Rita Owens; father, Tony Eaton; step-mother, Kathy Southerland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Charlie are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Denny Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Fischer Cemetery in Ft. Payne, AL.

Pallbearer will be Timmy Fowler, Levi Fowler, Josh Farmer, Justin Farmer, Rick Farmer, Tristan Coe, Bobby Hickman and Cody Rowe.

MR. JIM BERRY STOKER, age 91, of Scoggins Trail, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Stoker was born at Cloudland, Georgia on November 5, 1932, a son of the late Henry and Mammie Moses Stoker. He was retired from ABS Tracks Company, in addition to Parents was preceded in death by his wife the late Pat White Stoker and several Siblings.

Surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Robert Whitworth; nieces, Robin & Glenn Miller, Tammy & Elliott Norton, Kathy & Charles Ratledge; nephews, Jayson & Amy Whitworth, Lee Stoker, Larry & Johnie Stoker, Mark & Debbie Stoker, Greg & Sherry Stoker; step children, Monette & Jerry Crabtree, Charlene & Tony Wigley, Phil & Mary Ann Gurley.

Mr. Michael Dewayne Fowler, age 54, of Lyerly, GA, died Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mr. Fowler was born May 30, 1969, in Trion, GA, son of Jerry Wayne and Willie Faye Cochran Fowler. He was employed with Morrison and Associates Surveyors.

Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Anna Cochran, Reeves and Lucille Fowler; aunt and uncle, Annie Mae Adams, James Cochran.

Survivors include his son, Andrew Fowler (Chloe Rosser); parents, Jerry Wayne and Willie Faye Fowler; special family members, Tabitha and Matthew Wright, Will Shepard.

Ralph Timm Southerland, Obit (C)

Mr. Ralph Timm Southerland, age 76 of Trion, Georgia passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at his residence.

Ralph was born in Resaca, Georgia on November 7, 1947, son of the late R.L. and Ruby Lee Cagle Southerland. Ralph was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office. He served with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office for over 35 years as a jailer, Captain, Jail Administrator and Court Services Deputy. Ralph also owned and operated Southerland Garage as a full-time mechanic. He was a devoted and faithful member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Trion for 47 years, after being saved on May 1, 1977. Among the offices he held over the years, he was a Sunday School teacher and had been treasurer. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years and mother of his children, Clara Southerland and his second wife, of 12 years, Frances Powell Southerland; a brother, Ronald Southerland; a sister, Linda Chamlee; son, Timothy DeWayne Southerland; granddaughter, Jennifer Whitt.

Ralph is the father of Mark (Kim) Southerland, Brian(Kathy) Southerland, Karen Swafford, and Linda(Joseph) Reynolds. He is also the brother of Kathy Wells. Ralph has 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and an abundance of great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his special friends, Bill and Nancy DeHart and Jim and Patti Grindstaff; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Ralph will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will include Burt Reynolds, Brandon Southerland, Austin Southerland, Luke Busby, Matthew Busby, Jackson Montgomery, Andy Williams and Taylor Long. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ralph’s Grandchildren, Bill DeHart, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office and the Members of New Bethel Baptist Church.
