John Robert “Timer” Jett, Obit (W)

MR. JOHN ROBERT “TIMER” JETT – Age 76, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He was born May 16, 1947 to his late parents, Robert and Dorothy Margaret Sanford Jett. He was preceded by his wife, Danette Brooks Jett, brothers, J. B. Jett, H. D. Lamar, and sister, Elease Dallas. He retired from Mohawk Industries for over thirty – five years. Mr. Jett was a member of Oak Hill Baptist church and he attended New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors are his loving and devoted family, daughters, Natasha (Undrea) Dupree of Rome, Georgia, Michelle (Walter) Person of Dalton, Georgia, Tanya (Travis) Winston of Dallas, Georgia; son, James (Kristi) Hudson, Jr. of Fort Payne, Alabama; sisters, Ann (Larry) Hammonds, Rebecca Smith, Lois Jett, Lenora Jett, Ruby (Nathaniel) Womble, Betty Hill; sister-in-law, Angela (Kenneth) Underwood; grandchildren, McKenna, Ajee, Tierra, Devon, David, Calvin, and Taniya; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1:30 P. M. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 281 Georgia Avenue, Summerville, Georgia 30747 with Pastor Kevin Roach as Eulogist. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Lisa Jean Walker, who passed away peacefully at her residence with her family on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Mrs. Walker was born July 3, 1971, to the late Jerry Webb and late Shirley Dawson. Lisa was raised in Centre, Alabama, where she graduated from Cherokee County High School and attended New World Cosmetology School. In December of 1996, Mrs. Walker moved to Summerville, Georgia where she permanently resided. Mrs. Walker met her husband, Lavette Walker, and they welcomed three beautiful daughters, and married on September 21, 1999. Mrs. Walker retired early from Roper Corporation, deciding to dedicate her life to being a devoted, full-time mother and loving wife.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Lavette Walker; mother, Shirley Dawson; father, Jerry Webb; and grandparents.

Mrs. Walker leaves behind to cherish her memory, Daughters, Jodeci Walker, Jakerria Walker and Jakyia Walker; step-daughter, Brooke Watson; step-mother, Debra Jo Webb; Step-father, Marshell(Glenda) Dawson; brother, Jeff(Gail) Webb; brothers-in-law, Scott Walker, John(Samantha) Walker; sisters-in-law, Patricia(Adrian) Walker, Joynce Walker; grandchildren, Alijah Watson and several others; special nephew, Nick(Danarea) Groce; special niece, Leslie(Kassie) Hudgins; great nieces, Amiyah Hudgins, Kailyn Hudgins and Arianna Hudgins; special friends, Samantha Allgood and Jane Price; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Walker will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Bishop V.T. Harden officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

MS. JUDY NELL LOVELESS – Age 70, of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. She was born on August 16, 1953 to her late parents Grady Loveless, Sr. and Thelma Adams Loveless. She was preceded by her stepfather, Albert Allgood, five brothers, James, Charles, Johnny, Calvin, and Larry Loveless, one sister, Doris Johnson. She was a member of West Fifth Street Church of Christ. For many years she was employed at Wire Tech and graduated from Chattooga High School.

Survivors are her two loving and devoted sisters, Arbie Loveless, and Kay Frances (Parker) Moody; brother, Grady (Regina) Loveless, Jr.; one uncle, Lee Victorian; aunts, Dorothy O. Donald, Bea Victorian, and Doretha Adams; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 P. M. at West Fifth Street Church of Christ, Summerville, Georgia with Brother John Lewis as Eulogist. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 P. M. on Saturday until the funeral hour with the family receiving friends at this time. Interment will be at Summerville Cemetery.

James Hoyt Williams, Jr., Obit (M)

Mr. James Hoyt Williams, Jr., age 64, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mr. Williams was born July 26, 1959, in Trion, GA, son of the late James Hoyt Williams, Sr. and Hazel Broome Williams. He was retired from Sam’s Club and had also previously been employed with Food World in Fort Payne, AL for 18 years.
Jimmy enjoyed watching Georgia Football and the Atlanta Braves. He also loved cooking out for his family. His favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren in all of their extra-curricular activities.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Faye Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lisa Day Williams; son, Justin (Emily) Williams; daughter, Allison Lyons; grandchildren, Blaine Woody, Kiersten Woody, Elijah Williams, and Maddox Baker; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Robby Eversole and Mr. Brad Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Blaine Woody, Lance Peevy, Alan Mowry, Charlie Woody, A.J. Vangurp, and Jarrett Vangurp. Mrs. Patsy Louise Ramey, age 69 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Ramey was born in Centre, Alabama on July 17, 1954, daughter of the late Ock Hudgins and Mary Marie Johnson Hudgins. She loved to cook, work in the garden, do craftwork and was an excellent seamstress. She was retired from the Spinning Room at Mt. Vernon Mills. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Wallin and brothers, Max Hudgins, Michael Hudgins, Mike Hudgins and Mark Hudgins.

Mrs. Ramey is survived by her husband, Harold Ramey; son, Robert Allen Ramey; daughter and her fiancé, Tina and Jim Brock; sisters, Gail Roan, Nancy Grogan and Joyce Tindall; grandchildren, Haley Bohanon, Ryan Fowler, Sarah Ledford, Matthew Fowler, Allen Ramey, Kayla Ramey and Emma McClanahan; great grandchildren, Izzy Christian, Emory Ledford, Ivana Ledford and Reid Fowler; and a number of niece and nephews.

Born in Chattooga County, Georgia on April 26, 1927, He was a son of the late Charles Wilburn and Lucille Teems Reed. Mr. Reed was a member of West Berryton Faith Temple, retired from the spinning room of Riegel Textile corporation; in addition to Parents, He was preceded in death by wife, the late Ruby Lucille Blackmon Reed.

MR. JEFF OWINGS, age 61 of Gore Community Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 following a brief illness. He was born in Rome, Georgia May 29, 1962, son of the late Roy and Betty Jean Owings. Jeff retired from the Chattooga High School system after 30 years of service as a Welding Instructor. He was Baptist by faith and a life-long member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his Wife and love of his life, Lisa Randall Owings; Son, Sage Owings; Daughter, Haley Brooke (Andrew) Johnson; Granddaughter, Blaire; Brother, Jack (Tammy) Owings; Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Special Friends.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, on Farmersville Road with Rev. Melvin Mosley and Rev. Pearl Elizabeth McKnight Wooten, Obit (C)

Mrs. Pearl Elizabeth McKnight Wooten, age 99 of Trion, Georgia, formerly of Rutherford County, TN, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at her residence.

The last of 11 children, Mrs. Wooten was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on August 11, 1924, daughter of the late Robert David Moody and Rosie Miller Moody. She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church and was an exceptional seamstress and upholsterer. Mrs. Wooten was a prayer warrior, dedicated to Christ, and loved to attend Church and family functions. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching golf, especially if Tiger Woods was involved, and loved to “Shoot the Moon” in a fun game of Rook. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wooten was preceded in death by her first husband of 48 years, Hudson McKnight; sons, William Robert “Bobby” McKnight and Paul Howard McKnight; and a granddaughter, Karen Tejas.

Mrs. Wooten is survived by her husband, Jackie Lee Wooten; daughters and son-in-law, Pamela Jean Clark and Teresa Kay and Robert Henson; daughter-in-law, Jewell McKnight; sisters-in-law, Jene Autry and Betty (Harold) Parrish; grandchildren, Kenney(Darcell) McKnight, Richie(Christie) McKnight, Michelle(John) Howse, Paul(Gwen) McKnight, Jr., Sandy(Rodney) Smitty, Teresa Dunn, Lisa Gooch, Robert Witty, Nick(Ali) Humphrey, Tiffany Miller, Josh Henson and Kaitlyn Henson; 28 great grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Charles Gray Harris age 75 of Lyerly, GA passed away Thursday January 25, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Harris was born February 3, 1948 in Kingston, GA to the late Edgar and Pattie Clemmons Harris. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of New Hope South Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Floyd County Wildlife Club for 24 years.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Johnston Harris, and sister, Micky Parsons.

Survivors include his daughters, Amber (Preston) Harris and Samantha (Justin) Lee; siblings, Harold Harris, Steve Harris, sr., Dorothy Crider, Karla Lingerfelt, and Nancy Wheeler; and 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Harris will take place at 3:00 PM Monday, January 29, 2024 at the chapel of Mason Funeral home with Rev. Kenny Roach officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope South Cemetery with Preston Harris, Justin Lee, Brayden Harris, Evan Lee, Greg Thompson, and Steve Harris, Jr. serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Walter Lee Love, age 86 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Love was born in Summerville, Georgia on July 5, 1937, son of the late William Marion Love and Fannie Avis Lewis Love. He attended the Mountain View Baptist Church and was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills until his retirement in 2002. He also drove a truck for Patty’s Construction for several years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Love was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Wilson Love; a sister, Ruth Cocker; and three brothers, William Marion “Bud” Love, Robert Love and David Love.

Mr. Love is survived by his wife, Frances Ivanell “Nell” Love; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Joy Love and Carlton and Brooklyn Love; step-daughter, Janet Waldrop; step-sons, Phil (Kathy) Meadows and David Meadows; sister, Jenny Tucker; brothers, Ben Love and Winston Love; sister-in-law, Margie Love; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
