Mrs. Margaret McClain Fulton Obit (ER revised)

MRS. MARGARET McCLAIN FULTON, age 89, of Third Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away, Monday afternoon in a Rome hospital.  She was born in Floyd County, Georgia on January 8, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Herbert A. and Sarah Irvine McClain.  Mrs. Fulton was preceded in death by her husband, the late John Fulton on July 3, 1996, to whom she was married to for 50 years. 
Mrs. Fulton graduated from Gore High School in 1944 and was valedictorian of her class.  She was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church and was retired from the former Farmers & Merchants Bank (presently BB&T Bank).  She was an active member of the community.  She served as secretary/treasurer of the Summerville Cemetery Corporation and treasurer of the Chattooga County Historical Society for many years.   She was a member of several organizations and loved to play cards on Thursdays.    
            Mrs. Fulton is survived by her two sons, Greg Fulton of Summerville and Robert Fulton of Spring Hope, North Carolina, her daughter, Ruth Cordle of Pike Road, Alabama, her sister, Eugenia Smith of Americus, Georgia, several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.
            Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21st, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Dr. Ed Judy officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Allan Fulton, Jonathan Fulton, Christopher Cordle, Steve Smith, Keith Register, and Daniel Cook; Honorary Pallbearers will be the Triangle Sunday School Class of Summerville First United Methodist Church.  The Family will receive friends Friday, October 21st, from 12 noon until the funeral hour, at the Funeral Home.

MRS. Fulton on July 3, 1996.

        Surviving are daughter, Ruth Cordle of Pike Road, Alabama; sons, Robert Fulton of Spring Hope, N.C. and Greg Fulton of Summerville; sister, Virginia Smith of Americus, Georgia; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Mr. Alvis Kelly Wright (M)

Mr. Alvis Kelly Wright, age 89, of Summerville, GA died Sunday,
October 16, 2016 in Menlo, GA.
 
Mr. Wright was born April 25, 1927 in Valley Head, Alabama,
the son of the late Grover Cleveland Wright and Minnie Elnore
Clark Wright.  He was a used car dealer.  Mr. Wright was a member of Look Out Hall Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in WWII. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Fred Wright and Paul Wright; and sisters, Ruth Martin and Catherine
Chamlee.
 
Survivors include his brothers, James C. Wright and Carmon Wright; sisters, Jane Bishop and Elsie Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Garrett Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be David Wright, Jim Wright, Lee Cooper, Randy Bishop, Paul Chamlee, and Justin Chamlee.
 
Mr. Wright will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 a. m until the service hour on Tuesday. At other hours the family will be at the home of niece, Rita Ezell at 1061 Orchard Hill Road, Summerville.

Mr. Lee Taylor Veatch (M)

Mr. Lee Taylor Veatch, age 35, of Summerville, GA died Saturday, October 15, 2016 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
 
Mr. Veatch was born February 5, 1981 in Rome, GA, the son of Ricky Lee and Beverly Taylor Veatch.  He was employed with Advance Plumbing and was a member of Lyerly First Baptist Church.  He attended Camp Sunshine and was actively involved there throughout his life.  Mr. Veatch was preceded in death by his grandparents, J. S. Taylor, Russell Veatch, and Nola Veatch Palmer.
 
Mr. Veatch is survived by his parents, Ricky Lee and Beverly Taylor Veatch; daughters, Libby Ann Veatch and Addie Mae Veatch; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Jeffrey Jarrett, Whitney and Andy Allen; nieces and nephews, Griffin Jarrett, Gavin Jarrett, Jackson Allen and Karsyn Allen.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Veatch will be held at 3:30 p. m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Peppers and Rev. James Baird officiating.  Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Charles Jarrett, Joe Tallent, Casey Veatch, Dustin Veatch, Greg Taylor, Cliff Ratliff, Aaron Bryant, and Yandell Ratliff.  Honorary pallbearers will be all Camp Sunshine friends and all personal friends.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Boyd (C)

Mr. Jerry Wayne Boyd, age 74 of Summerville, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at his residence.

 

Mr. Boyd was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on September 4, 1942, son of the late Samuel Roy Boyd and Dovie Ruth Cavin Boyd.  He was a member of the United By Faith Baptist Church, and prior to retirement, was employed with Mohawk and Mt. Vernon Mills.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Delorise Boyd; son, Jr. Boyd; and brothers, Alfred Boyd, Billy Floyd, and Samuel Franklin Boyd. 

 

Mr. Boyd is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Stacy and Holly Boyd and R.C. and Jennifer Boyd; daughters, Tammie Boyd, Kayla Brady and Heather Conley; brothers and sister-in-law, Gordon Lee and Judy Boyd, and Ronnie Boyd; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Roy Broyles and Patty Lou Barnes; grandchildren, Paisley Boyd, Gracie Drake,  Makaylee Boyd, Jamie Boyd, Zach Boyd, Bo Boyd, Jayla Boyd, Keley McGill, Gunter Boyd, Zane Boyd, Brennon Conley and Branden Thompson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Boyd will be held Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Brown, Rev. Sanford DeBerry and Rev. Micah Gillespie officiating.  Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery with Rev. Robert Brown officiating.

MRS. LYNDA EDWARDS, age 72, of Dry Valley Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, October 14, 2016, in the local nursing home.  She was born on October 7, 1944 in Ringgold, Georgia; a daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle Smith Hames.  Mrs. Edwards was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church and formerly worker for Menlo School.  She was preceded by her Parents, sisters, the late Jean Ponder and Elizabeth Gill, and brothers, the late Bob Hames, Fred “Cooter” Hames, and Herman Hames.

        Surviving are husband, Johnny Edwards; son, Jeff Edwards; sisters, Virginia Dunn and Syble Langston; brother, James Hames; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

        Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Mr. Robert Lee “Bobby” Evans, age   of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday October 9, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Evans was born January 5, 1938, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Abner Lee and Ina Mae Dillard Evans.  He was a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church and was the former owner and operator of Evans Welding.  He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Pauline “Dot” Morrow Evans; and a brother, Donnie Evans.
Survivors include his children, Terry Evans and Marie Thurman, Steve and Lynn Evans, Britt and Anita Evans; brothers, Buddy Evans and Joe Evans; grandchildren, Jana and Eric Evans, Brooke Bumgarner, Buffy Dawson, Brandon Richardson; great-grandchildren, Emma Bonanno, Colby Evans, Bailey and Brady Carnes, Ellie Dawson, Bryce and Braxton Richardson, Brielle and Baylor Evans, Amelia Bumgarner.

Brenda Woody Guarini, age 64 of Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Oakview Health and Rehab Center.
Brenda was born May 4, 1952 to the late Olin and Estelle Wilson Woody. She was a retired card dealer in Las Vegas and was of the Christian faith.
Along with her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by her sister; Kay Woody.
She is survived by her daughter; Tracy Gary, brothers; Leon Woody, Bo Woody, Terry (Charlotte) Woody, and Tim (Tammy) woody, sister; Joyce Spivey, and Grandchildren; Kelsey and Andrew King.

Mrs. Linda Ellen Lawson, age 70, of LaFayette, GA passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical in Rome.
Mrs. Lawson was born April 27, 1946 in Summerville, GA to the late Milburn and Helen Purcell Teems. Prior to retirement she was the manager of the Pit Stop Food Store and was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Lawson is preceded in death by her sister; Jackie Simmons.
Mrs. Lawson is survived by her loving husband; Harley Lawson, daughters; Krystal Dial, Elizabeth Stokes, Laura VanValkenburg, and Pamela Lawson, brothers; Buddy Purcell and William Purcell, sisters; Dorothy Thompson, Wanda Styles, Deborah McCary, and Charlotte Flood, 10 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 13 at AMI Cemetery with the Rev. Malcom Harris officiating. Nephews and Brothers-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

MS. SARA ELIZABETH WALKER – Age 77, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at her residence. She was born on November 10, 1938 to the late Isaiah Walker, Sr. and Elizabeth Almons Walker. She was retired from Best Manufacturing Company and was preceded in death by her two sisters, Rosa Lee Mack and Alice Hudgins, and two brothers, Isaiah Walker, Jr. and Robert Walker, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Walker of Menlo, Georgia and Patricia Walker Groce; three sons, John Walker, Scott Walker, and Lavette (Lisa) Walker, all of Summerville, Georgia; two sisters, Louise Hammonds of Chicago, Illinois and Betty Whatley of Miami, Florida; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; dear friend, Irene Parker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the New Spirit and Truth Assembly of Jesus, 487 Scoggins Street, with Bishop V. T. Harden and other ministers officiating.
